We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Polidoroff and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Wow this has changed since I started my business in 2016! Being a self-taught cake designer, obviously there was a lot of time stopping to learn new trends and techniques. I’d sometimes be up until the wee hours of a morning the night before a cake was due, which made for some exhausting weeks and missing out on a lot of time with family and friends. As I became more established, I don’t take every project that comes my way and focused in on things that truly bring me joy and that I can create well. This intentional step helped when we welcomed our twin boys in 2021 to be able to manage all the parts of business and home life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets my home based bakery apart from others is my approach to cakes and sweets. My goal is to make the most beautiful AND the best tasting cake, you can have both! What I hope people get from my brand is how much I truly love what I do and the joy it brings me to be a part of their lives through cakes!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh this would be amazing! I’d definitely take her for a meal at Pecan Lodge for brisket! I’d make sure there was a good show at Billy Bob’s and we’d hit Joe T’s beforehand. I’d drive her out to Buc-ee’s since I know she hadn’t been to one yet, they’re a destination all on their own!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband literally takes the cake on this! He’s been so incredible about supporting me with the wild idea I had back in 2016 of making cakes in our little apartment in downtown Dallas. I also have to give appreciation to all my friends who believed in me from the beginning and still are! And last, anyone who’s ever ordered from me. I try to always express the gratitude that they chose me, but I don’t think they’ll ever know what it means.
