Meet Sandeep Sulhan | Music Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandeep Sulhan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sandeep, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Till this day I feel like I haven’t achieved anything yet. I am never satisfied, I always want to keep growing and keep learning. There’s a famous Bollywood dialogue which I truly believe in, it states: “Never run after success, go for excellence, if you go for excellence, success will come running behind you”

To answer this question, I follow these mottos everyday, and keep telling myself to perform like a boss, and keep learning like a student.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always loved music. I am a former dhol player, which put me on the map and I had the opportunity to perform all over the world and with many different artists and events.

After dhol playing, I became a full time DJ and now music producer and Emcee. Growing up unfortunately I faced a lot of negativity in the entertainment business, which mentally took a toll on me. Now being a veteran in the entertainment business I’ve learned to use that negativity and turn it into motivation. Haters will always hate, it means you’re doing something right. Don’t waste your energy on negativity, save that energy and use it as motivation. Like Michael Jordan said in his documentary, look at everything as a positive, not as a negative.

I am now going into my 22nd year in the music business, and for 21 years I called myself Dholi Deep. Last year (2021) I decided to change my name/brand to my full name “Sandeep Sulhan”
In the initial start, I heard a lot of negative feedback, like “Why change it, bad idea” or like “your’re dumb to change it” “why change your name and start over”.

I have no regrets changing my brand, I have loved every single minute of it. I don’t feel like it’s a restart, it’s definitely a step up to something bigger! I believe in myself and I’ve had true believers along with me, so no regrets. A big shout out to my Desi Junction family for the support on my new brand.

I am now a full time DJ/Music Producer/Emcee. I love performing at Weddings. club events. concerts, festivals. I have also released 7 big music video projects as a music producer and collaborated with Major Record Labels (T-Series, Zee Music Company, Sony Music India, Muzik One, YRF).

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I guess you can say I’m getting old lol. I love the chill vibes, going to a good friends house and having a drink and BBQ with good company and good conversations.

I do enjoy restaurants with the family and friends as I’m a big foodie. But if I have a weekend with no events, then a really good chill vibe like I mentioned is my favorite.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be what I am today if it wasn’t for my parents and my family. Their support, push and guidance keeps me motivated and definitely been a huge inspiration.

I keep myself surrounded with positive people, and people who motivate me to not only be a better artist but even a better person.
