We had the good fortune of connecting with Sadie Howard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sadie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
This all started in the early 2000’s when celebrities in a magazine were airbrushed and looked so “perfect”. I asked myself, “Well, what can they do, that I can’t? And how can I incorporate this for good? How can I make a difference?” Not to mention I had a passion to freeze anything beautiful. Ie: Nature and people in their elements.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
This question is something that just lights me up when I talk about!

I love what I do because I see it make a difference. My clients are not only people who are supporting me, but have turned into friendships and people that I just adore! We listen to each other’s stories and relate!

My story started with a mission to serve others. My first couple clients worked in an MLM that sold make up. The consultant had several women under her and asked me if I could take a few photos of them for advertisement purposes. I said sure thing!

2 out of 4 of those clients stuck with me for a life time. One of them was a paraplegic and the other was a cancer survivor.

Once I finished the shoot, I listened to their story separately and it truly touched me.

One lady’s wish was to be able to lay on a couch full of roses and the other wished she had her long thick hair back like how it used to be.

This motivated me to to make their wishes come true!. I learned photoshop before all of this and knew I had it in me to conquer this. All that to say, the finished product left them in tears as I witnessed joy in their eyes. I knew from them on I wanted to make people happy. Happiness is such a beautiful thing and when you remind people their is beauty in all things, things just become a bit better than they were before. If I can sprinkle a drop of joy in anyone’s life to make any bit of difference, I’d say I’ve accomplished my mission for that time being! That also opens a door to getting to know them and starting a friendship.

I then ventured off to open a studio in my own home. It used to be my kid’s playroom until one morning I just had this idea to create something bigger!

Being a mom of 3, it definitely has its challenges being a business owner.

I just want people to know its not always rainbows and butterflies! It takes hard work to do anything. Especially being a mom. Motherhood is the most amazing thing and yet the hardest thing ever! Adding a business to that is even harder.

My first priority is being a mom and making sure I put my family first. My business is also very important to me because it’s a huge part of who I am. It’s much more than just a business-it’s a community, a place to share stories and inspire each other, and a safe space where all are welcome!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a huge nature girl! Something about listening to water droplets, listening to the twigs break as you step on the ground, and hearing the birds early in the morning gives me a sense of peace!

If my friend came to town, I’d stop by little mom and pop coffee shops, grab a coffee and head out to Arbor Hills Nature Preserve to walk the trails and enjoy the scenic route!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother has always been an inspiration to me. She has always worked so hard in everything she does. She also does whatever she does with compassion, love and patience. Being a business owner and a mother has taught me how to be patient. 🙂

My husband has also been my number 1 cheerleader. Every idea that comes to mind, he’s the first to jump on it and make it happen for me. He is a jack of all trades and has been a HUGE impact on helping me maintain my business.
