We had the good fortune of connecting with Sabrena Ford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sabrena, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind the brand was to build a platform where like-minded women in business come together and build seats for each other at any table. The Women With Purpose Tour is an empowerment tour for women entrepreneurs to connect and help scale their businesses through the power of networking. Our mission is to travel city to city, state to state, uplifting women’s voices in each community. We need more women leaders in the workplace to build their brands. The Women With Purpose Tour recognizes the problem and has built a network of women entrepreneurs to help put more women in leadership roles. There is this idea that women can’t work together. The Women With Purpose Tour is a testimony that not only can we work together, but we can build each other up from where we are in life to a better situation. It’s not all about business; even as the founder of Women With Purpose Tour, I rely on the other women in our network to keep me aligned with my purpose. We started the tour in my hometown of Texarkana, TX, then Dallas, TX, and we just recently wrapped up our Fort Tour this past July. Our next tour date, March 19, 2023, in Arlington, TX, will feature some of the top female entrepreneurs in and around Arlington, TX. We’re always looking for guest speakers to share their testimony. Any female entrepreneurs interested in joining us on tour can fill out our guest speaker forum on our website.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve spent the majority of my career working in retail sales. That’s where I developed my communication skills and ability to sell in fast pace conditions. That also forced me to learn Spanish, which I’m most proud of that accomplishment. I started studying the language around 2013 after working in an environment with Spanish-speaking clientele and couldn’t close a sale to save my life. I soon enrolled in Eastfield College and started taking Spanish classes y el resto es historia (the rest is history). I now have my Spanish Certification through Penn Foster College, which I will proudly hang in my new office. The road hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced challenges along the way that taught me never to let my dreams fester away. There’s always a tomorrow until there’s no tomorrow. As long as God keeps waking me up every day, another tomorrow of opportunity awaits me. The Women With Purpose Tour represents women in society and how we’re all of different shapes and sizes, skin tones and colors, languages, and cultures, and come from unique backgrounds. Most important, we all have a voice.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Dallas is known for where the Frozen Margarita developed. Anywhere there’s a good margarita, I’m there! One of my favorite places to dine is Mariano’s Hacienda Ranch. They have the best selection of top-shelf margaritas and the best sizzling apple pie topped with vanilla bean ice cream. Mariano’s food menu doesn’t consist of 100% authentic Mexican food, but they are a step up from traditional Tex-Mex restaurants here in Dallas. If budgeting and gaining extra calories weren’t a factor in my everyday life, I would dine out at Mariano’s every night. Since starting the Women With Purpose Tour, my day-to-day life persist of round-the-clock networking. I get to meet and work with people like TikTok influencer Luscious Barbie and Superbowl Champion Tony Hills, whose now my financial advisor is nothing short of an amazingly productive week. In my downtime, I like to see what’s behind the lens. Dallas has numerous scenic places I can take my camera and shoot. Prairie Creek Park, White Rock Lake, Design District, and Klyde Warren Park are some of my top favorite places to shoot outdoor photography. I’ve learned you can’t live a productive life without rest in between. Fridays are the days when I set aside time to wind down from such a productive week. I don’t even have to go anywhere as long as my mind is at rest; I’ve treated myself.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We wouldn’t be the Women With Purpose Tour without the women involved, both past and present. We have a phenomenal lineup of guest speakers who have joined the tour and shared their testimony. Lyrik Hunter, the owner of The Brown Sugah Lounge, and Coach Shant Smith, the owner of Hooked on Fitness & Nutrition, thank you. Tamika Jones, the owner of Griffin’s Financial Services, thank you. Reese Gaines, the owner of Just A Squirrel, started on the first tour as a vendor and became a guest speaker on the Dallas tour; thank you. That’s just naming a few! Our brand mission is collaborative partnerships and networking with women entrepreneurs. We thrive off of seeing other women win. Our platform’s design is to highlight women leaders across the globe. I can’t thank Nadia Thomas enough. We met during the origination of the Women With Purpose Tour, and now she’s the company’s COO.
