We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryian Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryian, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When I think about risk, I think about calculated risk. I know that calculated risk can bring about great rewards. This is why I am all for taking calculated risks. By calculated risk I mean I analyze the probability of success compared to what could be lost as a result of the decision. Taking risks has also placed me in various winning positions that would not have come about if I did not take the risk, or take the leap of faith. I am not originally from this country and leaving my home and migrating to the US was a risk that is still paying off.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a self-published author. I wrote a book called What in The Fatherhood. It is a book geared towards first-time fathers and fathers-to-be. In this book, I go through my experience as a first-time father. I talk about the good, and also some of the challenges that one can possibly face. My book is not a manual but more of a compass for other fathers.
I began reading self-help books in 2011 my first book being Think and Grow Rich. After continuously reading books that added value to me, I believe that I needed to be a contributor and not only a consumer. This burning desire to become an Author only intensified once I had my son. I began writing my book on January 1st, 2020, and published it in February 2022.
It was not easy to write and publish my own book. There were many doubts while writing the book because I began doubting that this book was a need. I also questioned my writing ability as it was my first book. I am an engineer by profession so writing really is not my most vital strength. I also had to figure out how I would get the book edited, formatted, the cover book designed and eventually published. With enough research, sleepless nights, and writing every single day. I was able to self-publish my book through my own book publishing company Connected Dots Publishing. I overcame these challenges by staying persistent, focusing on the feeling of accomplishment I would have gotten once the book was published, and remembering why I decided to write this book in the first place. To add value to other first-time fathers.
I have learned many lessons through this whole process. Apart from the practical things like writing, editing, proofreading, how to self-publish, and how to self-publish on amazon, I also learned a lot about trusting the process, trusting myself, and believing in my why.
I want the world to know about my story and brand because I want to encourage fathers to be intentionally involved in their kids’ life from the very beginning. My brand is focused on motivating fathers all over the world to be the best version of themselves.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my wife Michelle GB Williams. She has stood by me for 9 years now. Without her love, support, and encouragement I would not be where I am today. From supporting me in my career as an engineer to being my number one supporter and cheerleader when my first book was published. She has been a rock in the advancement of my career and a shining light in my life.
I also want to recognize my mother Arlene Williams. She laid the foundation for who I am today. Any success I have is a result of her sacrifices in my younger years.
