We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Tucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have been around horses, and heavy equipment most of my life, and have usually always found a way to combine them both. Prior to starting my business, I worked for a well-known arena building company. Several DFW area friends were complaining one night about not being able to find a manure removal service. Light bulbs kicked on in my head, and well here we are now!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What I try most to set my business apart from others is reliability, and communication. The horse world is crazy, and scheduling is key. Starting my business was fairly easy, but I was fortunate to do it right from the start – I had a lawyer do all the intense tax and business paperwork, some business friends step me thru the entire process. What was especially hard at first and still a struggle at times is the fluctuation of income. You have to prepare for the “rainy days” and stash some aside for unexpected things. With vehicles and machinery its not if something is going to break, it is when. I am still working on breaking into different methods of advertising and catching the attention of as many farms, ranches etc as possible. I’m busy, but you can never ever be to busy! Have the desire to always do better, learn from mistakes, and show that you have learned.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My absolute favorite place to eat around is Osaka Sushi here in Sachse. I’m in there about once a week. Other than that even though it is touristy I do enjoy spending time down at the stockyards. Grab a steak at H3 and then drinks where ever. I really do not go out too much anymore those days are behind me. I’d rather have some friends over to the house have a little fire out back grill, so on and so forth. Cheaper and safer.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think more than anything besides my customers, I just need to recognize my friends and family for all of their support. There has been some great days, and days that I wanted to toss the towel in. they all kept me sane, gave me a shoulder to cry on, or a swift kick in the butt as needed.
