Meet Rob Rosenbaum and Linda O’Neal | Lodging/Wedding Venue

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rob Rosenbaum and his wife Linda O’Neal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rob and Linda, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was never our intent to own a lodging venue. We’ve always wanted to buy an older church and convert it into a cool living space. Since it’s an awkward proposition in asking about buying a congregations church and moving it, we decided to design and build our own. We used as much reclaimed wood and furnishings as possible and most people believe it’s an old church. We tried to stay true to the architectural components and the serenity that one would expect. After completing our project it was a natural next step to share this with others. It started off gradual and then as more guests stayed, it took off. We feel we’ve been guided by what we loved architecturally and design wise, and therefore people are attracted to others passions. We have also renovated our old tool barn and have converted a 2500 square foot barn into a chic lodging/event venue complete with French antiques and vintage pieces. It can sleep up to 6 guests and also doubles as an intimate wedding reception venue.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Linda and I both have a history in the Health Care world. I’m a retired Chiropractic Physician and Linda a RN who also has her own prescription grade skincare line. I think our backgrounds in achieving our degrees and success in our respective professions gave us the insight we needed to become successful in the hospitality industry. We realize our product is not lodging but the relationship with people product. We look at everything we do as though we are the guests staying. What would we want? What kind of experience would make us want to come back again and again.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh wow!! The Round Top, Brenham are has so much to offer. Well, obviously they would stay at The White House on the Hill. Festival Hill Institute-a world class music venue with the most incredible grounds and structures. You will feel like you’ve been transported to Europe. Linda is an artist and has her studio on site, so that would be a must. Blue Bell ice cream HQ Junk Gypsies Bi annual Antique Festival Yonder Way Farm ROYERS Round Top Cafe LuLus Manditos Popi Burger Garden Co. Prost wine bar Lollitop sweet shop Local Roots The Ellis Motel (not really a motel but a bar) JWs All the local shops and art studios All of the wineries we have too many to list And just travel all the back roads because you’ll never know what you’ll find.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would say we owe our success to our past and the love of architecture that has been instilled in us over the years. And of course all of our guests who have stayed with us, many of which we now consider our friends.
