We had the good fortune of connecting with Revisha Threats and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Revisha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Leading with god first an foremost in anything an everything I do. Providing for my family, creating a legacy, and having a stable income. Building a solid foundation for my children. I don’t ever want anything handed to me in this life. I work hard for everything. I want to set the right example for my children an anyone that’s striving to be the best like me.Especially those who might feel discouraged or feel like they want to give up at chasing there dream. I literally put blood, sweat & tears into my businesses. For example: I know that I could not afford my lash, make up equipment , and schooling , when I started my business, so I took another route. I started my cleaning business to pay for my 1st business. Quitting was never a option, when life gives you a road block, you take a detour. I have 4 blessing that depend on me an only me, the goal is to never let them down.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was always in and out of jobs my whole life. Almost up to 10 jobs a year. I felt like no matter what job I worked it would never fit me. 3 years ago I went through a very rough patch in my life. It’s was battle of me vs me. I was battling depression, obesity, suicide, homelessness, and , going thru a very tough divorce. I used to always watch YouTube videos, play in my make up on my face an friends faces. My sister bought me my first professional make up kit 4 years ago. She sat in the bathroom for over 2 hours showing me how to properly apply make up an lash strips. From that point on I made it my mission to perfect my craft. I realized at that moment how happy applying make up & lashes made me. How much peace & joy it brought me. When my sister left this earth I promised myself I would stop feeling sorry for myself an go after everything I want for my kids & myself. So I dedicated my beauty business “39 Shades of Fly” to my late sister Jasmine. Meaning 39- The age she left this earth, Fly- part of her well known name brand.
My cleaning service is a business that was passed down to me. When I was 12 years old my mother used to take me to work with her cleaning homes. She had her own successful cleaning business. I applied what I had learned growing up an now constantly cleaning up after kids 24/7 an applied it to my business.
Being a fulltime single mother of 4 children and a fulltime business owner is not easy. It takes a different breed of strength. But I take everything I have been thru in my life an the love I have for my babies an go as hard as my heart will let me.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shout to my sister Jasmine “JasFly” Waters. No matter how many doors shut in her face on her career path she continued to stand out an fight for her spotlight. She always kept her foot in my neck about letting fear over power me when it came to go after everything I want. Losing my sister, was the wake up call I needed. God rest your soul to my sister , RIP JasFly💜
I would like to recognize my mother Jean Threats , which is the financial brains behind my businesses, also my life time mentor. When I was 12 years old I started working along side of my mother with “Jean’s Before & After Cleaning service”. So I applied everything I was taught an more to my business now. I thank my mother also so always staying on me as a women, business owner and most importantly motherhood. My queen. Couldn’t do it without you.
