We had the good fortune of connecting with Regency Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Regency, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I would have to say the most important factor behind my success was the fact that I never gave up no matter what life threw at me. There were a few time I had to start completely from scratch due to moving to different areas or having children and each time I had to restart, but I stayed consistent never gave up, and kept faith that God would get me there. I also have a very supportive husband who believes in me so much, that I still to this day 12 yrs in blow him away with my work. With that being said success come from a belief that you can do anything you put your mind too no matter what it may look like around you. Be true to who you are and others with follow and support you!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I would have to say that I am a hair stylist that loves to think outside of the box, I see hair cutting and especially color as a play ground to enhance ones beauty. Hair color is one of my favorite things to do, because it allows me to express my mind and artist side from inside out. My clients are my canvases and I am so passionate about the out come and looks and expressions on their face. Its my art work and the fact that I can change their lives changes my life as well and I believe that’s what sets me apart from others. The thing what I am most proud of is who I have become as a hair artist, and also that other stylist out there look up to me, I remember having my favorite stylist that I would watch on social media and I would follow their every move and the fact that I am doing that for other stylist out there means the world. I have also been able to educated other stylist one on one and soon will be hosting classes makes me proud of myself and I am extremely excited to share my knowledge with others. I believe what got me here where I am at professionally was thinking out side the box, trying new things and not being afraid to take risk, it wasn’t always easy for me, but I never gave up and knew that I was destined to be great. Some of the lessons I learned was to be authentic there are so many other stylist doing the same thing, you have to learn to be ok with being different. I want the world to know about me is that hair is my passion and I plan to do so many amazing things with it, Also my main goal at the end of the day is to help others through hair by allowing them to feel amazing about them selves, or to help other stylist achieve success as well. Anyone can do what ever their heart desires as long as you believe in yourself.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had family or Friend come to visit, I would take them to Legacy West in Frisco, Tx. I love walking the strip where you can shop and eat out doors especially when the weather is nice.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely would have to say that if it were for my husband Greg Johnson that believes in my 110% I don’t think I would have made it this far. There have been times where I wanted to toss in the towel and stop doing hair, or believed I was not good enough and he always encouraged me to keep going because I have a special gift at what I do that not everyone is born with, Also that I am more then enough, and the right clients will come who not only loves my work but absolutely love me for me . He supports me through all my crazy big ideas which is why I’m on the way to opening my new salon now… The Regency Johnson Salon. He shouts me out all the time to his clients and on his social media, he even shows up to the salon to surprise me, and I couldn’t ask for more support and love then what he already does, and want to thank him for that!
