We had the good fortune of connecting with Reegan Nicole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Reegan, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
The podcasting industry is a tough industry to breakthrough. Since it’s such a small community, it’s hard to reach your target audience. It’s not just setting up a mic and giving your opinion. You have to study and learn your target audience, you have to do research on the topics, and you have to be open to failing. It’s not as easy as it seems, and New Aura is still fresh and new. We are still facing obstacles, but it’s all apart of the testimony. It’s journey to say the least.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I graduated from Louisiana State University with my Bachelor’s in English. I’ve always had a creative spirit and I love to write. I always knew that I wanted a career that would allow me to be as creative as I wanted to be. I learned as a writer, we are able to create our own narratives. Although, I graduated in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, I still feel as though I was able to accomplish something with New Aura. It’s been many times when I’ve felt as though New Aura wasn’t living up to it’s full potential but as a writer, I know many great stories take time and patience. I know that New Aura will flourish into something bigger than I could ever envision.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Dallas is one of the best cities ever, often forgotten, it’s is a gem. To eat, I would say Perry’s Steakhouse. It’s in the heart of the city, near Klyde Warren Park, and at night the city lights parade the streets creating a nice ambiance. For Drinks, I would say Stirr in Deep Ellum, the have the BEST Lemon Drops! Plus after a few drinks, you can walk right down the block to Harlows, it’s a rooftop lounge with the perfect view of the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I fell love with podcasting when I was working a day to day retail job, and I needed something to past the time while checking out customers so I’d pop in my AirPods and listen to “Pour Minds” and “Whorible Decisions” both of those platforms are entertaining discussions driven by black women. Those shows definitely pushed me to develop New Aura, alongside my best friend Selina. We dove head first into the industry and we’ve been growing ever since. Those platforms gave me a sense of motivation, because I didn’t think New Aura would grow as fast as it did especially since the podcast community is so small and it’s hard to maintain listeners.
