We had the good fortune of connecting with Reagan Porter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Reagan, why did you pursue a creative career?
Growing up people have always told me I was creative in different ways, but I didn’t feel creative. I didn’t see myself as a creative or artistic because I couldn’t draw, paint, or didn’t have any musical abilities. Eventually with time, I realized that we all are all creatives in our own unique way. Everyone would give me their opinion about what they could see me doing creatively, which left me feeling kind of all over the place, but I had to find my creative space in my own way. I have always been attracted to art and any all things aesthetically pleasing. When I create, I feel a sense of euphoria and I know I’m operating from my magical place.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
With floral design, I want people to know that flowers are so versatile. It’s art. I am so proud of the happy moments I’ve brought to my customers when they have received one of me arrangements or admired one of my designs. I am so excited to share with people what I feel in my spirit when I release it in a design. I’ve gone back and forth in my mind and plans many times of different ideas, trying to find what I knew was there. The biggest challenge I faced was the limitation I placed on my own self unknowingly mentally. I want people to know that Petal Juice is new to others, but it’s been there this whole time. I had to go find it. I’ve learned to quiet the noise around and to not complicate things.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a lover of finding little tucked away gems around the city. I would definitely say we would have to have coffee/tea at Fount&Board. Brunch at Jose on Lovers. Dinner at Cry Wolf is a must. Drinks at Lounge Here and Tiny Victories. We would hit up a few art galleries like Daisha Board Gallery and Dallas Contemporary. Go relax with some yoga and sound at Le Sol House. Hop off and on the McKinney Ave trolley and just go with the vibes. Catch an indie film at The Texas Theatre. Thrift around on Jefferson in Bishop Arts and grab some tacos from any spot around the way.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My babies who make me feel like a kid again by telling me I can do any and everything. My circle of loved ones who are always pouring into me and making me feel like I’m that girl!
