We had the good fortune of connecting with Randy Owens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Randy, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Helping people makes us happy. We love being a part of building a local community where everyone feels welcome. We want to create an environment that draws people in and gives them a sense of belonging while meeting a need. Coffee!
What should our readers know about your business?
My wife and I have been in business for ourselves for over 25 years. Over the years we’ve owned and operated several businesses, some that did well and some that didn’t do so well. We’ve learned a lot, but still have lots to learn. It definitely hasn’t been easy but it’s been rewarding. There’s always going to be tough times in any business. You have to be creative and handle a lot of things at once and be your own cheerleader at times. There’s also the good times. Times when things are going well. Times when you get to meet great people and learn from them. Times when you see that you’re meeting needs of people and feel like you’re making a difference. We wanted to create an environment for our customers where “everybody knows your name”. We want people to feel accepted and important to us. This past year with the pandemic has been very challenging to all businesses, but it’s the people that continue to drive our passion to keep working hard to keep our business going and were grateful that we have had the opportunity to do that.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was in town, I would certainly bring them down to Old Town Lewisville! It’s the historic district of our town and tells the story of our history. There’s several great places to visit and see. First off, start at Wayne Ferguson Plaza where you may catch a concert or an event going on. Or you could just sit out and enjoy the area. Then stop by the Relic Roasters cupping room where you can see a live coffee show or cupping and see how the coffee is roasted on site. You could also visit/tour Bendt Distillery. A super cool local distillery that is locally owned by a great family. We have lots of restaurants to enjoy. One being the Prairie House that used to be our local Feed Mill! Super cool vibe and great food. There’s also Old Town Wine House that serves great food as well. It’s owned by two local ladies that we went to high school with. There’s also some fun shopping places to visit… the Main Street Mercantile that’s a vintage market that’s located right next to the Perc coffeehouse (that we own) and also Flourish Florist and gifts right across the street. There’s several other fun places to visit around Old Town and lots of bridal shops, etc if you’re looking to get married! We also have a super cool venue space that’s called The Lounge that’s right above the Perc. It has a cool vintage vibe as well and can be opened up to be an open air space. Lots to see and do in Old Town.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’re very thankful for our customers who have made us feel like we’re doing something right by just showing up everyday. For our employees who make the magic happen and to the Lord who is the giver of all good things and a part of everything we do.
