Meet Rana Cho

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rana Cho and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We wanted to provide a place for an elevated, modern Pilates experience that also incorporates wellness. Pilates has been taught as a mind, body, spirit connection but there are few places that help educate the clients about their health as a whole. We wanted to address that gap.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I found Pilates rehabbing back surgery. I have a fusion. I literally changed my life and is why I am not another statistic in the world of major surgery. I had not been a workout fanatic before, maybe I still am not. But it helped me recognize the power of movement and how little people are moving these days. It’s challenging to be committed to an exercise routing but it makes such a huge difference in your life! From that experience I changed what I was doing and became an instructor. I have struggled with peri-menopause as well and ended up having to help myself because the current model of medicine couldn’t find a problem with anything but I felt horrible. I didn’t recognize myself anymore. Through that combination I realized how much of a gap there is in the “healthcare” system and became a nutrition counselor and learned the functional view. My whole world changed, for the better, and I have solved my own problems and am thriving. When I met Amanda, we both saw the same gap in Pilates and she wanted to jump in and create a whole new Pilates and wellness experience with me. She brings over 24 years in fitness with her from the bootcamp, CrossFit world that also lead to an injury that brought her to Pilates. Opening a business is not for the faint of heart! Holy cow, what a lot of work. But we are so glad we did it and are ecstatic to serve the community! We all have the capacity to self heal, we just haven’t been taught what to do. We are on a mission to transform your wellbeing through movement and functional health education.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When in the DFW area you must check out the stockyards. So many things to see and do there, hopefully you can attend a rodeo for a true Texas experience! Joe T Garcias has a great atmosphere and drink! Pick a BBQ place, there are so many to chose from, another Texas staple. Lots of lakes to visit and maybe hop on a boat! This place is BIG! You cannot cover it all in one trip unless you’re spending a month here. Austin has many restaurants and artsy things to do, Waco has its own charm. Big city adventures await in Dallas and Huston. Visit the capital in San Antonio for more sites and historical value. Weatherford has a historic district and tour as well as a beautiful courthouse. We are the seat of Parker county so might as well check it out. If you love horses, Parker county is the cutting horse capital of the world too. There’s a variety of ways to get your horse fix. Golden Reward Sanctuary is one, quaint way to visit a local horse rescue and see good work being done for senior horses. I guess it really depends on what kind of adventure you are looking for, but Texas has more than you can handle in one visit!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My business partner Amanda Murray. It wasn’t until I met her that I felt this dream could actually work out. My husband as well, Sidney. He’s been pushing me to open my own studio for longer than I believed I could.
