Meet Rama Bhat | Wedding and Event Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rama Bhat and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rama, why did you pursue a creative career?
As a certified fashion designer and an enthusiast on film production , did some work and won awards at state level while in college, later my passion was in getting into styling ,started my store front named it Obsessions in Hyderabad India , collections were showcased in the gallery space and after hours I made handcrafted pizza’s and fries ,Obsessions was a speakeasy corner for afterhours, learnt how to make pizza’s from scratch at my own store and hosted tasting events occasionally with a new recipe, learnt that food is an emotion, not just what bite , with hosting celebrity fashion shows annually with my collections for men and women, I got involved with charity and community outreach events for underprivileged children, orphans and old age homes, learnt me to be humble and grounded ,hosted artists and their work in my gallery from around the country , designed for movies stars, wedding outfits , trousseau and organically got involved in designing decor that complimented my wedding couples it helped me understand the color scheme, theme and mood of any event ,styling the event space made myself learn the art of production and design a garments for men and women, for any event, occasion, celebration , show, weddings or for a movie production, I learnt it on the go and as an when a requirement came in , I gave my best working all seven days in a week , I am very passionate and I am a strong believer that our energy flows in where our passion is ! Coming here , I moved into interiors and some experience from what I have done in past taught me self-expression of thoughts and fostering self-discovery and nurturing something new that can bring satisfaction with a purpose and accomplishment, This career path was something that I never planned to be in, It organically happened and I am here on my personal growth of problem solving, critical thinking, working under pressure and ability to accept and adapt challenges. As a designer with experience in art, fashion design, set design, filming, i understand with a deep sense of the requirement and space demands for any event design comes with esthetics. Over the years, meeting people and knowing their needs thought me a lot about vast cultural backgrounds they come from, traditions they carry, rituals they follow, regional food they eat, believes they have and their love and emotion in their hearts. I am here as a wedding designer a Planner from conception to conclusion as a storyteller who is involved completely from start to completion and being an integral part of the sketch to see it get life, planning to live production, I am not very sure if this is a career I chose, or career chose me! Here I am learning!

What should our readers know about your business?
Event and Wedding from concept to completion, I am involved as a script writer to do the timelines, as a chef to work on the menu , as stylist to work on the decor concepts and color theme , as a musician to work on audio ,music sound for the entire event, as a technician on event lighting, as a narrator to be on the set for the event itinerary and program flow , as a set designer to work on the aesthetics and layouts, as an art director to find the venue and locations, as a filmer to get the best on captures with photo video and drones , as a friend for emotional support, as a fashion designer to get the attires , as a cop to work on security , as a transporter to get all the logistics planned out, as a dancer to get the event and performances choreographed , as an officiant to get what is legally needed for making the wedding official , as a printer get all the stationary , as a planner get a wedding vision to reality @ EventsbyRama

I believe nothing is impossible, We have the power within in us to do anything that our mind truly sets upon and a will to achieve it. Setting small goals helped me and I never stop to make more! Life is beautiful , only if one sees it that way , it is all in the mind, It was not easy to get involved into wedding and event planning, I had my hiccups while trying ,it was not easy to know and understand the unknown, It took me time before I started in a very humble way , had a friend who trusted in my work ability and asked me to design her full wedding, It was my start then and never stopped working, I believe, all have that one friend or opportunity that comes, do not let it go ! All I carry is the will power and the enthusiasm to do something different always and that came naturally! Over 18 years of experience in this industry, here I am with my simple story that makes me be an integral part of all the weddings I do and remain in their story as a beautiful memory !

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Will keep them home for most part as I love to cook and host for friends and family, would take them for a morning hike on the trails on Grapevine Lake, Look for concerts or standup comedy shows, musical shows, Will make a trip to Astoria Coffee, Lala Land and Mediterranean, Thai restaurants! look out for Saturday morning farmers marketplace, love to get fresh farm produce and Arts and Craft shows !

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A big shout out to my family for believing in my craziness and supporting me through! My Mom, Love You for who you are! My brother, I know you are there always for me! My husband is my pillar strength, My daughters are my life lines and inspiration, All my lovely friends who always believe that I can do anything under the sky !
