We had the good fortune of connecting with Raja Mohan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raja, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
As a child, I was interested in many careers but became fond of medicine because of my father. He taught me facts about the human body and anatomy at the age of 4 and by age 6, I remember learning the names of all the bones in the body. Quickly, I became very fascinated with each of the human organ systems. I used to go on rounds with my father in the hospital and observe what he would do from a very young age as well. He would treat patients with colorectal cancer, and I recall many of them telling me that my father saved their life by identifying cancerous lesions during their colonoscopy. My father was a hero when I heard these stories. He inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. Then I happened to meet a plastic surgeon in college named Dr. Gregory Antoine. He was the chief of plastic surgery at Boston University. He introduced me to the world of plastic surgery and I was fascinated by the specialty because it was the perfect blend of art and science. The beauty of our specialty is there is no right answer or approach to every problem we address. We have to think on our feet and come up with creative solutions to aesthetic and reconstructive problems.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a board-certified plastic surgeon with a focus on aesthetic surgery, I have over ten years of experience and knowledge in cosmetic and non-surgical aesthetic procedures. This includes breast surgery (breast augmentation, implant removal, breast lift, breast reduction); abdominoplasty and liposuction; facial procedures (rhinoplasty, facelift, eyelid lift). I also have experience with injectables, ablative/non-ablative laser treatments and body contouring treatments.

My philosophy is that each patient is unique and I customize a plan for each one. I treat each patient with the utmost care and concern to achieve the best possible outcome. Many of my patients and colleagues recognize that I am a great listener with excellent bedside manner. I believe patient care always comes first and aim to provide concierge care for each patient.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Dallas, I really like the restaurant scene. There are a lot of major brands and restaurant groups that have opened restaurants here that rival some of the best restaurants in the country. I am also a wine collector and there are many private wine clubs in Dallas that are fun to visit. There is also a great shopping scene and we have all of the high-end luxury boutiques found in other major cities.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My father encouraged me to be who I am today and helped me become successful. In addition to him, another person who greatly influenced me was one of my primary mentors in plastic surgery, Dr. Eduardo Rodriguez. He is one of the best plastic surgeons in the world and is known for performing groundbreaking face transplants. While I was a resident in training and working in his research lab, he always told me that the key to success is time. The more time you spend learning and training, the better you will be. He shared a lot of wisdom about life and becoming successful.
