We had the good fortune of connecting with Raigina Preston and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raigina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I didn’t want someone else dictating how I spent time with my patients.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Best You is a mental health clinic. The name came about because my goal is to help individuals become their best selves, which understandably may take on a different meaning for each individual. What is the best for one person may not be the next for someone else. I also like to instill hope in patients. If they feel no one else believes in them, including themselves, I want them to leave my office having a sense that I believe in them.
the journey to start and even to maintain has not been an easy undertaking. The hardest challenge has been balancing my career between being a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend while still having time for myself.
I’d like the world to know that I’m a survivor. I’ve survived sexual, emotional, and physical abuse. I’ve survived being a single mother and living in government housing. I’ve survived the naysayers and if I can survive and thrive so will you!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Restaurants–For a good steak, I like Bob’s and Nick and Sam’s or if I have a taste for lamb chops then Tru Kitchen and Cocktails. Drink- I’m not a big drinker, my drink indulgence is a gelato drink from Amorino in Legacy West.
Hang out– watching a dance performed by Dallas Black Dance Theater, attending concerts at different venues, listening to live music at the Library.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband was instrumental in supporting and believing in me. My son told me something that has stuck with me, which was to “bet on me.”
