We had the good fortune of connecting with Raelon Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raelon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

My thought process behind starting my own business was to bring all the ideas that I have into real life. I don’t think I actually thought “ok, i’m going to start my own business,” but more so had the mindset of, “ I love this idea, how can I make it real.”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My creativity prevails in many different ways. I am the girliest girl who loves everything about beauty. I have been a licensed cosmetologist since 2011 and I love creating different looks with hair and make up. With hair, I love constructing wigs, coloring, braiding, styling, you name it. But my passion is my love for makeup. I’ve been enthralled with make up for as long as I can remember. Watching my grandmother do her make up and having so many different products always grabbed my attention. Growing up, I loved recreating looks i’ve seen in magazines and TV. Now that I am able to do the same as a career, it’s really a dream come true. I have worked for big makeup brands as well as freelancing in both California and Texas. My current focus is creating my own products and it’s becoming something I’m truly passionate about. Being able to meet a lot of people and gain clientele from my artistry and personality is truly a blessing. Over the years, I did work other jobs in hospitality and banking when freelancing wasn’t so consistent. I also went back to college and earned my Bachelors Degree in Broadcast Journalism. This allowed me to explore other aspects of my creativity and start a podcast. Although it was difficult for me to leave the beauty industry, these jobs helped me to grow in my customer service experience, investing my money and finding other creative outlets. I’ve learned that even though I may perceive something as a set back, there is always a silver lining and it is best to have my full Faith in God’s plan. I want the world to know that my story may not have been a straight trail from start to finish, but no matter how long it takes you to achieve your goals and dreams, continuously keep your eyes on the prize.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In my friend group, I’m known to be the spontaneous planner. I love having a set itinerary to ensure we fully seize each day, but my extroverted personality loves to try new hot spots. If my best friend was visiting from out of town, I would definitely have a fun filled week planned for us. Starting off, we have to do fun activities like the Mixology class at The Selfie Bar, AT&T Discovery District, and the Wonder Bar all in Dallas. Plus we have to visit Spa Castle in Carrollton, and blow off some steam at Dallas Axe Throwing in Richardson. But no itinerary of mine would be complete without visiting the best picture worthy restaurants and bars like RSVD Pink and Kiss in Dallas, Daq’s and the Common Table in Frisco and of course ESO Mimosa Bar in Arlington. I love meeting people everywhere I go so when I have someone visiting me I make sure to take them all over the DFW area so they can also meet new people and experience new places.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely want to shoutout my mom and dad. I’m truly blessed to have wonderful parents that raised me to do any and all things I put my mind to. No matter how random or different my ideas may be, they have always created a safe space for me to explore my creativity and fulfill my dreams. Whether it’s driving me across town to trainings and classes, encouraging me to stay focused when I run into difficulties, and having their support financially, I am truly blessed to have them. I wouldn’t be here today or have success in all of my endeavors without their wisdom and guidance. They are the blueprint I strive to emulate in everything I do,
