We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Townsend and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
The value I hold closest is living authentically. Authenticity invites connection, courage, and clarity, and it’s the foundation of how I strive to live and work every day. As an artist, curator, and business owner, that means creating from a place that’s real, building spaces that reflect who I am, and leading with heart over hype. I’m not interested in fitting molds — I’m here to tell the truth, follow my gut, and make room for others to do the same.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work explores the butterfly effect — how small choices ripple into larger outcomes. I create without a plan, working intuitively and letting each mark lead to the next. That same instinct guided me into opening my gallery. I had no formal training or background in the art dealer world — just an opportunity, a strong sense of purpose, and a gut feeling I chose to trust. What started as a leap has grown into something much bigger than my own practice. I’ve learned so much along the way, and I continue to lead with heart, not fear. Living authentically and championing other artists has become one of the most meaningful parts of the journey.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite spots are right in downtown Grapevine. I love exploring the charm of the area, grabbing Tex-Mex with family and friends, and catching up on the local art scene — it’s the perfect mix of creativity and comfort. RTown Gallery adds to that vibe by offering fun opportunities to connect with local artists and experience fresh artwork each month at our artist receptions.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My successes would not be possible without the love, support, and encouragement of my family. I’m deeply grateful to my parents for nurturing my creativity from the start, to my husband for believing in me and pushing me to strive for greatness every day, and to my three children, who inspire me constantly and remind me why I do what I do.
