We had the good fortune of connecting with Quanell Hartfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quanell, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was tired of being judged, So I became my own boss & decided to open doors for myself rather than depending on others to open them for me!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well I’m a professional barber by day, I’ve been cutting hair professionally since 2005! I’m also into Graphic Design, I ran my 2nd business from 2010-2019 MyKustomCorner creating custom sports backdrops, t-shirts, vinyl graphics etc…then covid hit & I closed MCK & I decided to regroup & dedicate more time specifically to barbering. I love art, music, and the art of barbering. I did my 1st haircut in the 6th grade because I was tired of pro cuts, & super cuts destroying my hair! Sorry to name drop but hey lol they also played a part in helping me become the barber I am today! I’ve built a pretty decent client list over the years & I would consider at least 85-90% of that list to be pretty good friends of mine. I’ve learned valuable lessons over the years in this profession and I’m still learning. I feel like that eagerness to continue learning is what helps me stay current with today’s styles and trends! My ability to listen to my clients, understand the look they are going for and getting it done in a timely manner is what keeps them returning & referring! I would want the world to know that I always showed up to do my job to the best of my ability! If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Everyone that knows me knows I’m a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan, I love my Mavs Rangers & Stars but football has always been a special part of my life! I’m also a home body so more than likely a sports game, maybe a couple of sports bars, then back home to be around family! Sorry I’m at an age where home is my sanctuary, I love to grill, cook on my black stone & be surrounded by my family & grandkids!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to many to name, but the ones that definitely taught me to go after what I want early in life would definitely be my Mom, and my Grandparents! Then later in life my wife & my kids!
