We had the good fortune of connecting with Preston Corbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Preston, why did you pursue a creative career?
I wanted to reach others through creativity and art. I grew up in Southern California playing basketball all the way up to college level. I had pursued modelling in my teen years, but I wanted to play characters that would relate to a certain audience. I got my first acting gig in 2002, and from there I was hooked! It’s an outlet to let your inner self out and reach others through art.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think the thing that sets me apart from other actors is that I become the actor. Acting has its difficulties, but if you become that person in that environment and stay in character, acting comes naturally. When I play a character, no matter how big or small, I know a piece of myself is left on the scene. My journey in acting has been long. I started in 2002 when I was 18. The biggest thing I’ve learned in this industry is that opportunity is within your control. Meaning if you grind every day, year after year, opportunity will show itself. You have to work hard, be relentless, and hear no after no after no until you get that one yes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was born in Dallas, and it will forever be home. Dallas has so much to offer, from iconic sports teams, nightlife, and family fun. If I have a friend visiting from out of state, I am taking them on a tour of the Star. Nothing is more iconic than the Dallas Cowboys.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The person who stands out to me professionally is Lucille Ball. She was a comedic force in a time when men dominated Hollywood. She was a trailblazer and her acting brought so much enjoyment and kindness into families’ homes and hearts.
