We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Escalante and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paul, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
As a kid growing up I always felt a tad bit different so I gravitated to music as a source of comfort and a refuge where I could openly express myself and feel the most like who I really am. The rest of the members of the band are similar in that way. We gravitated to a creative life because it is where we feel the most at home, and it gives us the most gratification.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a band we pride ourselves on delivering music and live performances that capture the true spirit of rock n’ roll, which means delivering an overall feeling of genuine rebellion, danger and most of all fun. We feel this energy sets us apart from a lot of current musical acts. All the members of this band have been playing music for the majority of their lives. Individually and collectively we have faced many setbacks but our love of music ultimately pulls us through. These experiences with adversity have taught us that if we remain true to ourselves and continue doing what we love, it all seems to work itself out! As far as what we’d like the world to know…its that when it comes to many things, precision and technique are definitely important, but ultimately if there is no real feeling and soul behind it, its means nothing.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For us a perfect night out in Dallas would be grabbing some dumplings at Neon Kitten, drinks at Twilite Lounge then heading next door to one of our favorite venues Three Links for some live music.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definite credit needs to go to our manager Asia Lawton. She has been a hugely encouraging force and her perseverance and ability to motivate has played a massive role in our success thus far.
