Meet Patty Farmer | Marketing & Media Strategist | Speaker | Publisher | Podcast Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Patty Farmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patty, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind my success was believing I would, making the choice to never quit, knowing when to pivot, and always listening to my gut when making business decisions. I have an amazing inner circle of mentors and coaches however, in the end after you seek advice from your inner circle a decision has to be made and as the CEO it is your decision to make. And trusting yourself, your team, your vision, and your why is key.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a marketing & media strategist as well as an international speaker, magazine publisher, podcast host and event producer. I work with established service-based entrepreneurs who are experts in their field but struggling to identify, attract and convert their target buyers and how to package their expertise into new programs and services to position them in the marketplace to increase revenue, leverage the media and monetize their business.
What differentiates me is that I start with lifestyle. I work with my clients to DESIGN the lifestyle they want to live and then help them build a business that will support that lifestyle not the other way around AND not take a lifetime to achieve it.
I am the most proud and excited about the Marketing, Media, & Money Magazine (and Podcast). The concept of both the magazine and podcast is simple really, I cannot help everyone but I believe if we lead with contribution, compensation will follow.
I created the magazine 5 years ago and it is designed to serve and support entrepreneurs, small business owners, and speakers by showcasing industry experts and global influencers who generously share their knowledge, strategies, and resources on what’s working NOW to help them grow and scale their business. We now have over 160,000 subscribers, columnists as well as guest authors and my company markets the magazine as well as the contributors in many ways including LinkedIn articles, designing all their graphics, social media, podcast interviews, and a mastermind al to help them leverage the magazine for their business.
It hasn’t always been easy, there have been a lot of tweaks, mostly tech along the way to make sure we continue to serve and support our audience at the highest level. But at the end of the day, I am proud to provide FREE resources, and to share the amazing network of global influencers and industry experts I personally invite to write for us or to interview.
Ultimately, my mission is to make marketing profitable, NOT painful.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love this question. I would want to take them to Uptown and all the amazing restaurants there, the Art District at Fair Park, the museums to explore the beautiful culture Dallas has here. I would also want to take them to the small suburbs, and the historical areas in each. I love McKinney and the shops around city hall and especially Spoons Restaurant. It is my favorite. I also love Watters Creek in Fairview/Allen area and would take them shopping too at the outlet as well as the Shops at Fairview.
And speaking of shopping, Dallas has some of the best shopping no matter if you want to go to malls like Willow Creek in Plano, Stonebriar in Frisco, North Park or the Galleria, Dallas has it all.
And of course, we would have to go to Forth Worth to see the stockyard and the amazing restaurants on Main Street.
And I would also take them to Southlake to Town Square and of course they would have to visit Central Market, no one can come to Dallas and not experience that and finally I would take them to Grapevine and depending on what time of year it was they would experience so much including the phenomenal wine bars, the olive oil store and my favorite farmers market.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ava Diamond, Phil Gerbyshak, and Lois Creamer were all instrumental in my success when I made the decision to become a professional speaker. Ava mentored, encouraged and sometimes walked me off the ledge when I didn’t think I was eloquent enough and helped me to realize it wasn’t about changing me, it was speaking in front of people who needed to hear it the way I shared it. She also helped me to realize that in the end, it isn’t about me at all. It is all about the audience and my job is to share, serve, and support the audience by providing valuable information to help move them forward.
Phil Gerbyshak provided me with the understanding of the logistics of how to get booked and Lois Creamer taught me the business side of speaking.
Together, they inspired, mentored, and motivated me to trust myself as both an entrepreneur and a marketing and media expert and I became a six figure international speaker in my first year.
