We had the good fortune of connecting with Paisley Jacques and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paisley, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Helping as many people as possible makes me happy. I feel my best when someone can rely on me to guide and help them through anything problem they may have. Whether it be answering a simple question, complete tasks, or having a deep breakthrough, I want to help. I have always been that way. I want to provide a service that makes people feel seen and heard and that they can feel comfortable asking for anything. Sometimes it’s not about reciprocity or returning the favor, I feel complete just by being there for someone.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am interested in videography, film, photography, podcasting, editing, and a little bit of writing. My overall goals are to create content from as small as an ad campaign to as large as a film. I want that range in order to have an impact that’s simplistic yet has such magnitude. Like I said before, I am nowhere near where I want to be, but I am grateful for where I am.

I never really had the funds to purchase equipment and software that I feel would propel me forward professionally and give me better quality content. Taking it back to middle school, I used a phone to record myself talking on YouTube about my day at school or whatever was going on at the time. I was vlogging before it was cool, basically. With the help of my resources from school and work, I used quality equipment to create my videography, photography, podcasting, and graphic designs. Attending and working at my university in a multimedia department definitely taught me almost everything I know. That’s how I got to this point.

It was a challenge to be confident in my work knowing that I don’t have much equipment whilst showing the world my ideas. I had to be very vulnerable and open to the criticism that could come my way. I thought that my stuff wasn’t good enough and that the lack of equipment would overshadow my creativity. I overcame that by realizing that it’s more about the quality of me than it is about what type of camera I use. Anyone can have the best equipment out there and be basic or unoriginal. If I create something that reaches people, to me, I’ll have success. With enough success, I can purchase all the equipment I need and still be that creative person behind it. I am still creating content without a camera, microphone, etc. and I’m thankful for it now because it built character. If I can still be that creative and driven without equipment, imagine how much better my work will be with it. I learned that you can’t be defeated when it comes to your passion. Instead, I have to be motivated and consistent so that everything can fall into place later.

I want the world to know that I am someone who wants to create content that shares as many stories as possible. Fictional and Non-fictional. I want to represent not only myself, but my ideas in a positive, creative light. As long as I remain humble, motivated, educated, creative, and supportive of others, I do believe I will be able to share my ideas to the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I do not get out much, let’s start there. I have lived in the area my whole life and I’m still visiting places for the first time. I would go somewhere with food and a nice view!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am today, both personally and professionally, without my partner, Bobby Cooks. I have been into media for a few years now, but it wasn’t until I met Bobby that I started to actually pursue it. I met Bobby when media was just an interest and a hobby. One day he sat with me and encouraged me to really follow this path if I was ready to fully focus on it and commit to it. It’s because of him that I got better grades in college, received my degree, and started working in this field. I’m nowhere near where I plan to be, but I’m much further along in this passion of mine because he gave me that drive and motivation to keep going. The love and support I receive from him in my personal life have definitely reflected in my work life. I am able to pour into my work because I am being poured into. Thank you, Bobby, for believing in me and sticking beside me throughout this journey!
