We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paige, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
I define success as knowing who you are as a person and artist. It is loving what you do while also having a drive to do better. I believe success is also knowing that what you do will benefit future generations and is something you can look back on and be proud of.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a performer, I would say it is  slightly difficult to find a work-life balance. It is all about how I think and how much work I put into every rehearsal, tech week, or show. It is difficult sometimes being young and comparing yourself to other creatives, however I think one thing that sets me apart from other artists is my ability to isolate my mind when it is necessary. Being around other people for hours on end, especially during the summer, can be draining. But the ability to connect to my inner peace and bring myself back to my current space is crucial to my performance.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting DFW I would take them to Downtown Fort Worth first!! We would visit Bass Hall and see a musical. Then, I would take them to the Botanical Garden. The most exciting places to be are on the roads. Seeing buildings, blasting music, feeling the sun bounce off skyscrapers. Then we’d go to Deep Ellum to watch Stephen Sanchez (and maybe get autographs). Lastly, we’d finish off the day with street tacos and quesadillas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my family for their love and support on my artistic journey, my past and current teachers for encouraging my artistic abilities, and The Black Academy of Arts and Letters for helping develop my performance skills.
