We had the good fortune of connecting with Out Of Touch Productions and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hello Out Of Touch Productions, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We both had the luxury of going to a high school that offered a very hands on Media Technology class which led to us making a feature length film our junior year (HORROR HIGH). This truly helped our love of filmmaking grow even more and after production wrapped, We knew that we wanted to start a production company where we had the creative liberty to tell the stories we wanted to tell and create the art we wanted to create! Since we are extremely close and practically share the same brain we knew this would be an easy process for us because we simply want to make films We believe in.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We both met each other our sophomore year of high school in our media technology class. After seeing how hard we each worked on our own respective film projects we decided it would be wise to work together. After that we continued working together on multiple projects until we got the idea to form this production company. It wasn’t the easiest because we decided to pursue this during the dreaded pandemic, so saying there were a few setbacks would be an extreme understatement. However, after all the trails and tribulations that 2020 and 2021 threw at us, we came out stronger than ever.
We truly think our friendship is what holds this business together and what sets us apart from others. Being friends and business partners really taught us that it’s okay to have fun on projects and it’s made us make sure we are providing a comforting and friendly environment to our clients/crew. It taught us that you can be serious about your craft but also have a healthy balance of working with the people you love and understand the most without being thrown off track!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It sounds cliché, but nothing beats wandering around Downtown Dallas. It’s so full of life and just absolutely beautiful to look at. Restaurant wise we suggest Miriam Cocina Latina, trust us…you will not be disappointed.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When it comes to shouting people out, the first person that ALWAYS comes to both of our minds is Tyler J. Case. Tyler was our junior year Media Technology teacher and was also the director, editor, and cinematographer on HORROR HIGH (which has a worldwide distribution deal with ITN Distribution). Tyler taught us everything He learned in the industry/field and took us under his wing, getting us internships on a SAG-AFTRA production and even bringing us on as producers on HORROR HIGH 2, a sequel that is being made by his current junior media technology class in the same vein as the previous film we helmed. On this project He is allowing us to work side by side with his students and show them what it takes to make a feature film, from concept to final edit! He has taken the media pathway at Dubiski Career high school and is slowly (but surely) turning it into a star making vehicle! Aside from our parents, no one truly understands and supports us the way Tyler does.
