We had the good fortune of connecting with O’shea St.John and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi O’shea, how do you think about risk?
I feel like the bigger the risk the bigger the reward. Before I started Stjohn logistics I had recently just got home from prison and was driving forklifts. I drove forklifts and worked my business on the side for like 5 months. I worked sat-mon so I never had the opportunity to service my clients on weekends, and well one day in January 2022 I caught COVID and my job had a super long wait before you could come back to work even if your test was negative. After I tested negative and was feeling better I opened up my schedule for St John Logistics over the weekend for the first time ever! That first Saturday I made would I would have made in one week driving forklifts in one day when I finally was able to come back to work I walked right in and put my 2 weeks notice in lol. I was a great worker so my superiors tried to talk me out of it tried to scare me about my decision but I followed my heart and I had GOD on my side so I quit and never looked back . I’ve serviced over 400 clients since that day and have over 300 5 star reviews. Had I not quit that warehouse job and put my all into myself I wouldn’t be successful right now I didn’t let fear win I took a risk and it paid off.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So at Stjohn Logistics I offer a wide range of services from General mounting to furniture assembly, appliance installation, moving, etc I also specialize in IKEA closet installation I really enjoy doing those! I believe what sets me apart as a black business owner is I care about my clients I care about my reputation I don’t believe in doing bad or shady business I go above and beyond for every single client no matter how big or small the job is. I think what I’m most proud about is I’ve been in business almost 3 years and I have never received a bad review I have nothing but 5 star reviews I take pride in my work. How I got here that’s a good question many years ago I used to be independent contractor I had a few box trucks and we would deliver furniture for places like Conns, Best Buy, Home Depot, Pottery barn, Etc business got slow one year and I didn’t really see a way to get out of the hole I was in financially and I ended doing some things that I shouldn’t have been doing and it cost me 2 years in federal prison. From 2019 to 2021 I was incarcerated I immediately started working at the warehouse I told you guys about just for the sake of having a job but I knew I wanted more and I knew it wasn’t gonna be easy. I had support from my close family and friends and I started Stjohn Logistics I initially only offered 2 services when I first started furniture assembly and moving and I now offer over 12 different services I didn’t know how to do any of the things that I currently do YouTube was my bestfriend lol and trial and error. I overcame the challenges by simply not giving up even when it got hard even when business was slow and bills kept coming I just keep going. I want the world to know that if you ever book a service with me it will be one of the best experiences from a business that they have ever received I care about my brand I care and my clients.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom, my fiancé at the time, a few family members and a few close friends played a major role in having my back and keeping me sane in one of the darkest times of my life they all deserve a shoutout!
