We had the good fortune of connecting with Osasu Ewansiha and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Osasu, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always loved art, architecture and interior design. Growing up you’re kind of persuaded and told to do what will make you money, but that may not even be your passion. I had always gravitated to the arts and originally wanted to study interior designing in college but unfortunately it didn’t happen that way. Now I have the ability and opportunity to actually do what I love while also keeping that 9 to 5.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Think Modern Interiors is my baby that was created in April 2022. I’m so proud of how I was able to just take the leap regardless of the outcome. I knew so much about interior design already but I knew that in order to give my clients the results that they love, I had to dig deeper. It’s not just about throwing pieces together but it’s about understanding a clients wants and needs. What makes them feel good when they think of their home. It’s about dimension, quality, and their vision. People may think that interior designing is quite simple but starting this business was one of the most difficult things for me. Its always about perfection for me but I had to learn that it’s not about perfection but creating a space that a client will fall in love with.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmm, this is a a tough one for me. When I do go out, I like to try new places every time and I never really go back to the same place more than once. But there are a couple of gems in the Dallas area. Moxie’s is a great restaurant with great vibes and good food in the heart of uptown Dallas. Dahlia’s Bar and Bistro is another great place that I always take my girlfriends to when they’re in town. If you’re into vibes and aesthetics, RH Rooftop restaurant is such a picture worthy place to go with your friends.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my amazing fiancé and lovely sisters for pushing me to do what I love and take that leap of faith even with uncertainty.
