We had the good fortune of connecting with Olu Balogun and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Olu, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting a business was born out of a desire to make a difference in people’s lives. I identify a problem our society is facing and I develop a solution to that problem. Many people I encounter in my life have always have this question in their head . What is my purpose? This is a very important question to ask . I have developed a card game to help answer those questions and inspire people to have meaningful conversations which would change lives and impact the world. Some of the indirect benefits of the card game, which by the way is a conversation-starter is improving communication skills, learning how to discover your purpose and developing the right mindset to succeed.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is a unique mix of philosophical ideas and a passion to see more people succeed in life. I am driven by what people called an inner- compass that is always trying to do good and leaving a lasting legacy. Some of the challenges I face were personal. More like, a lack of belief in myself that I capable to change the world. I truly want to make the world a better place. To overcome my self-doubt, I just emerged myself in my work and take one day at a time. The lesson I learned is that you have to start to move forward.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them through McKinney Texas downtown. I believe it is place that feels ancient and modern at the same time. It feels warm and homely. If that make sense. We would go eat at reggae hut in McKinney. I love Jamaican food. I enjoy reggae music as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My late aunt Mrs Shola Abdul deserves a recognition in my overall story. She ensured I begin to read books in my early years and that habits stayed with me till date. I read books like think and grow rich which is where I derive some knowledge about life. The Bible also played a significant role in my life. My dear mother introduced me to that.
