We had the good fortune of connecting with Olivia Sharber and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Olivia, how do you think about risk?
Being a professional dancer most of my adult life, I feel like I am always risk taking. Every day seemed risky. Would I get the job I was auditioning for, how long until I need to audition for my next job, will this specific gig cover me long enough to pay all my bills, does the director like me, etc. etc. I believe that most things worthwhile all come with an inherent level of risk. Relationships, jobs, opportunities. You can’t be afraid to jump. Generally, when I’ve been the most scared, is when I’ve seen the most growth and opportunity. If it doesn’t scare you its not worth it! I love to live on the edge and I think finding the courage to look fear directly in its face has really pushed me to be successful in my various avenues of life.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have spent most of my life dancing professionally. I trained and trained as a young child. I missed a lot of things the typical kid didn’t; school dances, parties, social events, because I was too busy training. I never regretted missing things because I knew this life would take me somewhere. Before I graduated high school I had already toured Europe and done professional training programs in New York City. Professionally, I have danced on iconic stages such as Radio City Music Hall and the Grande Ole Opry and visited and lived in many different states and countries.
I have cried as many sad tears over jobs not received as happy tears with jobs I was given. There were so many hard chapters, but those are the ones that bridged me to the happy ones. It was always worth it. When you audition daily in New York City, most of them end in a “NO.” Its a challenge to get used to rejection but it makes you strong and resilient. This career taught me to never give up and to always keep going. And to stay true to yourself. The moment you loose your authenticity its over.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Piper Young Rivera – Piper is the epitome of #bosslady. Not only is she successful in her professional endeavors, but she is a wonderful mom, wife and friend. We went to the same school 5th grade through 12, so when she asked me to join her team, I knew I couldn’t say no. Working alongside someone who leads with love, support and genuine happiness for other’s success has been a game changer.
Pamela Nichols – She was my first mentor in Real Estate when I started in NYC. She took me on with no experience and believed in me. She still inspires me today.
Charlotte Jones, Kelli Finglass and Judy Tramell – My directors and choreographer when I was a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. They run one of the most successful female organizations in the world. They have consistently set a standard of greatness for decades. I truly admire their ability to consistency be leaders in an ever changing world.
