Meet N’kole Bryant | Founder, CFO, Multimedia Journalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with N’kole Bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi N’kole, how do you define success?
I define success as beating the odds despite all the cards being stacked against you & you still come out on top. As a Triple Negative Breast Cancer Survivor, beating one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer, allowed my Soul to rise up and say, “Girl, no, Woman, you betta get out here with this 2nd life and live! Do all the things you dream, and then Do all the things you Dare to Dream!”

When your name & your work ethic precedes you is another way, I define success. That’s why for the last 5+ years, I have worked hard to build and made sure that I always did a great job because I am representing not only my businesses but my family name as well. I have 2 sons and I want to be sure that the legacy I leave behind for them is something that they will be not only fond of, but proud of.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I heard a great word that describes what I am & do, I am an “Artivist”. My activism always came first and through my art I am able to express my sentiments and get the word out about community issues that we need to know. Through Word On Da Street W/Judah I am able to capture people’s stories and share them with the world through video & photos. When a Major issue arises in our communities that need to be addressed; we are asked to put them out in documentaries for all to see and that’s what we do. We have a several of our documentaries on Roku, Apple TV, etc., and having that along with our 501 C3 nonprofit organization, Suits For Judah (Co-Founder/CFO), being awarded Nonprofit of the Year 2022-CIVN, and being awarded as Community Humanitarian of the Year 2021-Not My Son these are some of my proudest accomplishments and moments and I plan to continue along this path. So, in this part of my life, I am super excited about Suits For Judah because we have been in operation since 2018, and we are doing some amazing things to be completely self-funded, and we will continue along but would greatly appreciate some funding. Suits For Judah is all about Mentorship, Exposure, Entrepreneurship, and Empowerment. Through our 4 Pillars I became a member of a 2-year fellowship/cohort named Bridging Fellows with Independent Sector. This fellowship chose 40 community leaders/change makers from Dallas, Pittsburgh, and Chicago to participate in this inaugural fellowship. This has truly contributed to my activism work, and it has been a pleasure being able to travel to these other cities and see what issues they have in their communities and what solutions they are implementing.

I also work in the industry doing production for both theatre (Actress, Assist Stage Manager, Sound Op & Light Op) and film (Script Supervisor, Production Manager, Extra). I have been an extra in movies, and I was in my first professional stage play last year as an Abolitionist. I just love it all!! There is nothing like working production, especially when it’s theatre because theatre has a special place in my heart. For a while, I was worried about how people would treat me as an outsider. I didn’t go to any prestigious arts schools or anything like that, but I knew what I wanted to do, and I made my decision and pursued it. Now, at first, it was hard because I did not know any of these people, and some were not the friendliest, but after a while things became smooth & cool. To overcome the challenges, I went in and did my job to the best of my ability and focused on my work, which, fortunately, got me more and more work. The lessons that I learned along the way are, you are capable of anything, you never stop learning, and you know more than you think you know.

I want the world to know about WarriorQueen, the brand I created after my cancer diagnosis. I had to create something to inform the people, especially my Black Women, of what Triple Negative Breast Cancer is and what it looks like. I also inform women what to look for because this knowledge is crucial, especially with self-exams. I didn’t know there were different types of breast cancer until I became a cancer patient. I wanted to share my journey with my friends & family on the internet through lives on Facebook and blogging because no one truly knows what a cancer patient has to deal with on a daily basis. I also wanted to inspire others and let them know that they truly are not alone. Through WarriorQueen, I have had many speaking engagements from podcasts to live speaking in front of people sharing my journey and encouraging others not to give up or give in because early detection saves lives. I am looking forward to WarriorQueen being able to do more this year. I would love to be able to help survivors, patients, and caregivers through my organization. I have so many ideas, but ideas are not funding, which is hard to be honest. If given the opportunity WarriorQueen can not only change lives, but the world, at least in my eyes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting for a week, we would definitely go to The Freeman on Monday for live music, drinks, and food; Sandaga 813 on Saturday night for dancing and drinks; Pan-African Connection for the culture for sure and the owner is such an amazing person, and if I am working on anything I would bring them to set with me and either to a Red Carpet Premiere or a Stage Play that I am working production for.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my Shoutout to my business partner, my mentor who recommended me, Judah Agbonkhina. He provided me with Mentorship, Exposure, Entrepreneurship, and Empowerment. He has always believed in me, encouraged me, and allowed me to truly be me and learn my way. So, Thank You So much Judah #WeRide!!! He is the founder of Suits For Judah which is the 501 C3 nonprofit organization that I am Co-founder/CFO of.
