We had the good fortune of connecting with N’Kima Russell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi N’Kima, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Before I answer the question I want to first establish that I am equally an emotional and logical thinker, so these experiences are always interesting for me to navigate. In any evaluation of principle or mentality that I’ve taken I always score pretty closely to 50/50 emotional thinker/ logical thinker.

When it comes to risk I always weigh out my evaluations based on how I’m perceiving it. If it’s something I FEEL I need to do but my mind can’t really wrap around the why then I’ll become hesitant. If I KNOW it’s something I need to do but it’s scary or causes fear worry or anxiety then I also become hesitant. If anything I appreciate this journey because what it has taught me is that there is no right or wrong way to make decisions as a business owner. All ways, within reason of course regarding ethics and morals, are fruitful if we go into it with the right mentality. There are choices I’ve made in my career that I didn’t see fruit from for years, but I never carry regret. If I experience regret it’s usually immediately after and I evaluate myself to figure out what it is I’m truly afraid of. I then CHOOSE, because it’s a choice, to accept myself and the choice I’ve made so that I can be optimally focused and aware of the things that happen next.

It’s with these developing habits that I am able to take on large amounts of decisions in a day and push through any occurrences of feeling overwhelmed or short sighted.

What should our readers know about your business?
Queendom Arts was founded December 14, 2017 and originally served as an events production company offering marketing materials for that specific purpose. Over the years, my sales skills from my professional background began to merge with my company until I really found my niche and figured out how to best serve my market. The difference between myself and other businesses is that I am a unique merge of industries. Most small businesses and entrepreneurs know to outsource their content and the strategies around releasing their content, but they rarely considering hiring someone to help them with sales. It’s common for the people in the market I serve to understand the need for marketing strategies, but often do not create cohesive plans that accurately communicate their brand to their audience. That’s what we do at QA, we listen, serve, and become the bridge between our clients and their audience to insure that the marketing initiatives they take on are successful.

The road to finding my niche wasn’t easy at all. It came with ups and downs, fears, scammers, and just people who were more interesting in exhausting my resources than adding to my cause. Overcoming these things took a lot of growth and maturity from me. This is why I tell people not to go into entrepreneurship for money or freedom because it gets hard. At the end of the day, if your causes aren’t founded in something you believe in it’ll fall a part. That’s why we see so many people hop around industries. They’re committed to the fruit but not the labor and the journey is 90% of the process. For me, knowing that my life purpose is rooted in helping people find their path and encouraging them to stick to it is what has kept me. Knowing that what I’m doing is creating confidence in people, helping them develop, and inspiring them to keep going is what keeps me going when it gets hard. I can’t give up, because I’m depending on me to show up as the woman God created me to be, and so is everybody else.

One thing I want people to know about me and my story is that prayer has been my anchor. Prayer and fasting, to be specific. I am openly a lover of Christ and I cast my cares upon Him. I learn from my experiences and I invite wisdom to guide me in all that I do. I am evolutionary, forever learning and growing into the next greatest version of myself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man that’s a tough question for me! While I’m FROM Dallas, I moved away after I graduated and didn’t come back (other than short visits) until shortly before the pandemic. This makes me feel more like a transplant than anything so majority of this itinerary consists of things I want to try myself but I do have some city favorites.

Monday- we’re going to white rock lake to walk and hang out and get some nature, then heading over to Liberty Burger for bomb food.

Tuesday- we can hang out in the farmers market and have Rex’s for lunch, because I eat there minimally once a week.

Wednesday- we’re heading back into nature to hang out at Lake Cliff Park, because I love outdoors. Then for lunch, over to one of my favorites – BBop Seoul Kitchen for fried chicken and macaroons. After that we can walk around the neighborhood and check out some shops. That night we’ve gotta go to “R&B Only” at PopUp DFW hosted by Black Caesar and DJ Bisha

Thursday- It’s back to the farmers market for Caribbean Cabana and then over to the Dallas Aquarium.

Friday- Green Door for lunch and then Pin Stack for fun!

Saturday- we can check out the Dallas Museum of Art and hang out at Katy Trail and grab some food from one of the trucks there.

Sunday – we’re either going to Social Dallas or Embassy City for church and I’ll likely cook after stopping by my favorite neighborhood Tom Thumb off of Live Oak.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
