We had the good fortune of connecting with Naronica Shaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Naronica, how does your business help the community?
I decided to go into private practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor, specializing in mental health, known as Shaw Therapy & Consulting Services. It impacts the community by assisting others with their mental health needs to help each person gain a better quality of life, while also advocating for the needs of others.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Shaw Therapy & Consulting Services, I worked with individuals with a range of mental health concerns. I work with individuals, couples, and family therapy. No issue is too small if it bothers you than it’s worth talking to a professional about it. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy, and Brainspotting. My primary focus is anxiety, depression, couples, and trauma. No client is the same, so I adapt my approach per the client and allow them to lead. I truly believe we all have what we need inside of us and can find it through proper guidance in a therapeutic relationship.

My brand and story: I’m passionate about helping others achieve a healthy quality of life which starts with the choices we make. My goal is to help others heal, expand their knowledge, and awareness so they can make choices from a healthier place within themselves.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Best friend!!!!……..lets go do brunch, lunch, dinner at Pangea, Spiral Diner, Vegan Food House, Reunion Tower, True Food Kitchen, Flower Child, and Pappadeux onion rings are the best! Later we’ll check out the Deep Ellum scene.

I got us tickets to a Sofar Sound live music event, can’t tell you where because their locations are a secret! We can also do our own music show with karaoke at the Shuck-n Jive and I’ll let you sing backup.

Early morning framer’s market and food at The Shed, next we have to check out the Bishops Arts District and eat at Gloria’s.. later I got us live theater tickets at The Black Academy of Arts and Letters, we can’t miss it!!! By the end of the night we will be at Sidecar Social for some live music, games, and you have to check out their bathroom, lol.

Later hang out at the shops at Legacy.

Before you leave we will finish off by relaxing at Spa Castle, I promise you will love it! Oh and we can’t forget my fav, The Cake Bar because what is life without dessert!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been very fortunate to have had so many wonderful, inspirational mentors on this journey. However, I would have to shout out to my parents. My mother has always instilled in me to always do the right thing even if its hardest thing to do, and to treat others the way you would want to be treated. She encourages me to always go further, never settle. My father believed in me before I had any direction. As a young girl we would talk about my future as he introduced me to the thoughts of becoming more than what I could think of for myself. They help shape my character which I’m very much proud of without them I wouldn’t know the importance of mental health.
