Meet Nandhini Sornalingam | Artist , art instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nandhini Sornalingam and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nandhini, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
“I started my art business page out of a deep love for creativity and traditional art forms. I wanted to create a space where I could not only share my work but also help others explore their artistic potential. My goal was to blend modern and traditional techniques like Lippan art, resin art, Kalamkari, mandala, and more, making them accessible through workshops. Teaching and creating art bring me immense joy, and having my own business allows me the freedom to inspire and connect with a like-minded community.”
“I started conducting art workshops during the pandemic as a way to stay connected with creativity .Now, my art page is not just about showcasing my work but also about building a community of learners and artists.”
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
“My art is a reflection of my love for creativity, culture, and exploration.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built through my workshops.
Getting to where I am today professionally hasn’t been easy. As a self-taught artist, I had to navigate everything on my own—learning techniques, experimenting, and even handling the business side of things. There were moments of doubt and struggles, especially in the beginning, but my passion for art kept me going. I overcame challenges by constantly learning, adapting, and believing in my work.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that growth comes from consistency and perseverance. You don’t have to be perfect from the start, but you have to keep creating, keep showing up, and keep improving.
What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that art is for everyone. Whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or rediscovering a lost passion, creativity has no limits. Through my work and workshops, I want to inspire others to embrace their artistic side, explore different forms of art, and find joy in the process. Art is not just about the final piece—it’s about the journey, the emotions, and the stories we create along the way .
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Day 1: Downtown & Skyline Views
Start the day with exploring Klyde Warren Park, rent bikes, or visit the Dallas Museum of Art. Lunch at The Henry for a trendy, laid-back meal before heading to Reunion Tower for skyline views..
Day 2: Drive to Fort Worth Stockyards to catch the cattle drive and experience Texas history. Spend the afternoon at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth or the Fort Worth Water Gardens.
Day 3 :
Get coffee at La La Land Kind Café, then explore Bishop Arts District, shopping at local boutiques and checking out street art. Lunch at Ebb & Flow, then head to the Dallas Arboretum for a relaxing afternoon. For dinner, enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine at Tei-An, then grab rooftop drinks at Happiest Hour.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
“I wouldn’t be where I am today without the incredible support and encouragement from my family, friends, and my amazing community of students and followers. My family has always believed in my creativity, pushing me to pursue my passion for art even when I had doubts. My friends have been my biggest cheerleaders, constantly motivating me to take my workshops to the next level.
A huge shoutout to my students as well—every workshop, every artwork they create, and every message of appreciation keeps me going. Teaching art is just as much a learning experience for me as it is for them. Seeing their enthusiasm and progress is truly rewarding.
As a self-taught artist, my journey has been one of constant exploration and learning. I’ve drawn inspiration from various sources—fellow artists and even online platforms.
I have also been a part of a few
