We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakita Gee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nakita, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
With everything that goes into starting a new business, I thought it would be very beneficial to create an all inclusive experience for small business owners to obtain all of their marketing and branding needs to jump start and elevate their business. I understand the struggles of having to work with multiple vendors to get things started for your business and I want to make your process less stressful and smooth. While doing all of that, I wanted to also provide great quality work at an affordable price.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
One Look Marketing specifically curates branding and marketing needs to the small business owners who are unsure of where to start, but are ready to make that leap to elevating their brands to the next level. Our team works together to create that all inclusive experience and make it something memorable and an overall experience they will be proud to look back on the investment they made. Our agency is different, because we include everything branding and all things for physical marketing that a business would need to jumpstart all with our one team at an affordable price. We strive for quality, but want to remain reasonable. Every experience is truly touched with love and pure creativity. No, this journey has not been easy, there have been so many hiccups along the way. However, the best thing about it is I never give up even on my worse days. There are still challenges that I face daily, but I continuously thank God for the will power and an exceptional team to continue being the leader that I am and help our small business owners. The two biggest lessons I have learned over time have been to set clear and hard boundaries, and everything needs to be in contracts to protect both parties. I want the world to know that they get a true up close and personal with myself and my team to ensure we bring their vision to life. My agency strives to make sure all of our clients are happy and have a memorable experience while working with us. WE ARE A VIBE!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I am a big foodie, so we would definitely be checking out some of the best restaurants in Dallas. We would definitely visit Ellen’s, Nina’s, Yolk, Snooze, & Stir for bunch. Mid day activities would consist of shopping at Allen outlet, exploring the downtown scenery, happy hour at sugar factory, etc. For the evening activities, we would definitely check out Pangea, Fogo de chao, Kiss, Ten01 bistro, Turkey dam & Deep Elm for some great eating, vibes, and fun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a special shoutout to my business bestie, Janeisha Mays, for always pushing me to do better and utilize my skills and creativity. She is the true definition of an accountability partner. My business strategist Krystal Beachum, has worked with me so patiently over these last few months to curate a great strategy and brand. Lastly, my mom and dad Winford & Jackie Gee for being there to provide the words of encouragement that I need to keep pushing even when I want to give up.
