We had the good fortune of connecting with Nahuytl V. Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nahuytl V., we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was inspired to open a Selfie Museum, by having a desire for a venture for myself and my own freedom to let out my creativity. Our venue is an immersive experience with beautiful décor made for the public to let their photos shine. I wanted something creative and colorful for the community to enjoy, with reasonable pricing they can afford. I also wanted to add a little of my own personality into it, so I added a western hat boutique offering handmade jewelry and personalized country shirts.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a sales manager for over 20 years at a retail store I learned so much about customer service and training as a manager. It paved the way and gave me the confidence to manage my own business and have the freedom for new things to accomplish. In any venture, there are challenges in the beginning, but the phrase I like to go by is “feel the fear and do it anyway”. The lesson I’ve learned and want everyone else to learn, is that they have the potential, you just have to find the right people to bring the best out of you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a proud Mexican, we enjoy our food, and I always recommend the best spots for my family and friends to enjoy. My top food spot is currently Hunky’s in Bishop Arts district. I would then take a walk down Bishop Arts and visit the local businesses. Also, the baked goodies place known as Emporium Pies, is a must try.
When it’s time to visit a spot, I would recommend going to concerts, as it is the best way to have fun with my bestie.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out Estilo DFW, for giving me the opportunity, as well as the platform to showcase my skills. We record weekly episodes which consist of conversations about community service, local events, new stories, and business shoutouts. I would like to also shout out everyone who was with me during my journey to open my business, it was not an easy path. To my family, close friends, and loved ones, thank you. I do this to keep my business for the next generation.
