We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadidah Coveney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nadidah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My background is in the Financial Industry. I’ve worked with many clients providing guidance on their business money management, their business growth, talent management, and many more. I’ve always had a passion for helping others. One day while out on a call with one of my business clients, he said, “you are really good at this stuff. You’ve provided valuable guidance more than you needed to over the years we’ve worked together. You’ve coached me and my employees. Why don’t you start your own business”? I chuckled. He then went on to say, I know what you’ve done for my business and my employees. You should be charging me for this. I responded by saying, I’m truly happy to serve. He then went on to say, think of a business name, get it registered, and send me a bill for my services. This is when CTM Consulting Group was formed and he was my first paying client. I am absolutely grateful for his persistence and believing in me and pushing me to embrace my potential. CTM Consulting Group is a company dedicated to growing leaders and inspiring them to unleash their potential. As a Coach, I am passionate about helping individuals unleash their potential to create a life where they feel fulfilled, inspired, and empowered.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Coach Train Motivate: CTM Consulting Group is dedicated to growing leaders and inspiring them to unleash their potential. Many organizations have entrusted us to develop effective leaders. We help busy executives, mid-level managers, first-line managers, and any individual who are passionate about their growth to achieve their personal and professional goals. As a Coach, I am passionate about helping individuals unleash their potential to create a life where they feel fulfilled, inspired, and empowered. My coaching approach has helped transform top talent into intentional, self-aware adaptive, accountable, and resourceful leaders, all while having fun in the process. Being in business for yourself is not easy. It takes commitment, passion, drive, persistence, being decisive, and having a kind heart to help you on your journey. Not just for you, but for the times when others want to see you fail. You must understand that not everyone has the same heart as you do. Just know that you’ve got your back, and god’s got your back. It’s important to be kind to yourself as well and acknowledge your efforts. This is all part of the journey. A lot of time, people don’t see the ups and down entrepreneurs face. I believe just as showcasing all the great accomplishments; we should also showcase and make normal our pitfalls. These are all lessons and could help others on their journey. I’ve overcome many of my challenges by having my circle/Tribe, great mentors who have guided me, be my sounding board, and provide feedback to help me be the best version of myself. The lesson I’ve learned along the way. My grandfather would always say in his trini accent, “go where yuh watching, not where yuh gazing”. Meaning stay focus and not be distracted. Often in business, it’s easy to lose focus or get distracted by “shiny objects.” It’s important to remember your goals, plan, make adjustments as needed, and stay focused on your path. what others should know about me? I am a strong believer in serving others, and those who know me, know I’m always smiling. My motto is: “Dont let the world change your smile. Let your smile change the world. As an individual, I am constantly evolving. I believe it’s important to cultivate your mind, activate your purpose, and elevate your life. Be the Gardener of Your Mind, Body, and Soul.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, here in Boston there are many great places to visit. Food: I’d take her to Flames Jamaican restaurants for some oxtails, rice, and bean and fry plantains. I’d also take her to try another Caribbean restaurant call, JP Roti, in Boston to get all of the delicacies that would make one smile with joy. I’d also take here to PF Changs for their Mongolian beef dish along with their lettuce wraps. Yum! and since she loves my cooking, I’ll cook up a storm for her from some of my famous dishes: BBQ chicken, Pasta Salad Spicy fried rice smothered steak tips just to name a few. Then I’d take her for a walk on the red brick-Freedom Trail, a walk around Charles River, Boston Commons, a Duck tour and lastly Faneuil Hall.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out. My mom: for always being there for me, praying for me. She’s a strong woman and honestly the best woman I know. We speak at minimum twice a day. She always encourages her kids to be their best, do their best, and have a giving and loving heart in the process. My dad (RIP): My dad was always there for me. Like my mom, we spoke daily, and he would always ask, “what you working on, my girl” in his Trinidad accent. He would always give me feedback and encourage me to stretch my mind. My husband and my son: Both are my best friends and my biggest supporter. They both continue to inspire so many things in me and my life, and I’m better because of them. I am better because they are in my life. My husband, my number one cheerleader, and my number one fan. He has never missed an event or speaking engagement and usually is the one telling everyone, “that woman over there, that’s my wife.” My son, the smartest 20year old kid I know. He’s wise beyond his years, always pushes me, and provides feedback (coaching) to help me do better. I wouldn’t have the life I have today without any of these amazing people who I love and get to call my family, my tribe. That, I am grateful and blessed.
