We had the good fortune of connecting with Myron King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Myron, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
Not buying the lie “time is money”. We have been told that time is money, the most expensive lie we’ve bought. You can lose money and get it back but you can lose time and can’t get back more time. Intuitively in our souls, we know that time is more valuable than money but our minds have been tricked to think time is money.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So I’m a licensed realtor in the DFW Market. I’ve been a successful realtor since January 2018 pleasing my clients because I understand their needs in any housing market we are in. The average time it takes to sell a home here in Texas now — from listing through closing — is approximately 76 days. That’s 41 days to get an offer, plus the typical 35-day closing period. If you’re looking to sell your property right now without a realtor I would advise picking up my book; “How to Effectively Sell your Property”. This is an easy-to-read eBook that can be found on Amazon. It gives you helpful hints and tips on staging your property to prepare for listing the property. It’s very important to note that the market is not as competitive as it was in 2021. The housing market will be tepid in 2023, with only lukewarm demand and a limited amount of inventory available for sale, Based on the data now it’s still a good time to buy a house.

Paying it forward gives me great pleasure! I’m most proud of what I do because I get to educate and help tons of people through the sometimes strenuous process of selling, buying, or investing in property. It was hard work to get here. Growing up in a negative space where anger and violence were the problem solvers for a lot of situations. It wasn’t easy because negativity filled the room in some of the spaces I was in. No one uplifted me or gave me the necessary motivation to succeed in life. I had to “self-motivate, ” reinforce positivity in my life and stray away from people who didn’t want true success for me immediately. It seemed it was all about what I can do for them at that time. Working in a corporate environment changed me a lot. I learned valuable morals and principles in life regarding family and business during my time there. I developed and built relationships that were meaningful and impactful to my success. I learned that we all have a story to tell and we have to determine how it will be written. I want you to honestly know that success is a journey and the obstacles we face in our daily lives define who we will become in the future.

Learning to grind and hustle at a young age brought me to this point in life. I never gave up on my dreams and I always put family first. Real Estate is a tool for me to be able to spend more time with my family and have financial freedom in the process. I enjoy helping people every single day navigate the world of real estate. I recommend hiring a licensed professional realtor for all your real estate needs and questions. If you are in Texas and need assistance in the real estate market… let’s connect over coffee or brunch!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are a tremendous amount of places to visit in the DFW metroplex area! It really just all depends on what you’re in the mood for at the time. When I am feeling invigorating, I would fancy a place full of life, like the Uptown district, a great location with restaurants and entertainment options. First book a hotel @Hotel ZaZa Dallas. Set in a great location close to the Arts District and within walking distance of several museums and other attractions, features a great terrace pool overlooking downtown. In this atmosphere, we can enjoy its exquisite array of decorum along with some pleasant eats. Downtown Dallas is the place to stay for exploring the sights, and this is where many first-time visitors choose to find accommodation.

When it’s time to take it easy a bit; I take it to the suburbs and enjoy the sweet aroma of southern highlife at Meet You Anywhere, this is where Texas-fed meats and Ain’t your Mamas Coleslaw do a two-step; it’s a favorite!

Taking you down South a bit; there’s the Fort Worth Stockyards with many urban eats too many to name but definitely to put a memorable impression in your taste buds. Scurry on over to the Arlington area for a romantic dinner date at Pappas Bros; which have the best-aged steaks this side of heaven!
Need some fun; just catch a Mav’s game and swing by The Tipsy Oak, can’t go wrong when there’s live music and outdoor entertainment. The food in the Dallas Fort Worth area boasts an impressive culinary resume such as Tex-Mex, barbecue, and soul food.
Last but definitely not least; is the most interesting Thompson Bookstore! One of my great lenders from California who moved to Texas found this place and we meet there to go over some strategies for real estate. Unknowingly to me, it was a building built in the early 1900s, that was a pharmacy and coffee shop originally. Rumor is that it was a brothel at one point in time during prohibition. So I thought that was a wow moment to be in a building with such historical significance to it. Love the “Godfather” like the
the ambiance of the place.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes! I would like to shout out Southern Company from my hometown in Alabama, where I worked in IT. Here is where I developed morals and principles and I also learned about leadership, organization, and networking skills to enhance my abilities. I would also like to shout out an MLM group that I was a part of. There I learned a lot about myself and how valuable I could be in the sales arena. I took that entrepreneurial mindset and developed more networking skills to succeed in business. I would like to also shout out very close friends and family that I have interacted with throughout my journey in life. Too many names to mention because there are so many who impacted me in my success. These people wouldn’t begin to know how much they impacted my life during the time we interacted. So this is dedicated to them as well. Without them, you don’t get this particular version of me. Thank you for being an inspiration!

I want to also mention my wife’s aunt and uncle (T Nell &Joe), who deserves more credit and recognition than I could ever give in my story. They were very instrumental in us getting here to Texas by way of Birmingham, AL in July of 2015. On a few occasions, my wife and kids would come to Texas on vacation, and Uncle Joe said to me on one of the visits:” You need to come out here”. “It a lot of opportunity here to do whatever I wanted to”. At the time I had just bought a brand new home in Alabama and had not begun to contemplate the thought of moving. Long story short, we moved our whole house lol from Alabama to Texas after selling my property in Alabama. We stayed with T Nell & Joe for a couple of months before our apartment was ready at the time. We took a leap of faith and some people back home thought I was crazy for leaving a good job and selling my brand-new home. It was the best decision for me and I would do it again if I had to. I thank them so much and we love them both! Special thanks to (T Nell & Joe) and God for putting all the pieces in place to get us where we are now.

PS…There were a few books that inspired me as well. “Whatever It Takes” by Brandon Bornancin; was by far the one I would recommend to all. This book help me get jumpstarted in my career!
