We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Vance and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Morgan, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Starting a business is terrifying. The thought of failing is always in the forefront of your mind. I was recently told “you won’t fail unless you quit.”
I want to create a work environment for my contractors and for my clients that they are proud to be a part of – somewhere they feel comfortable, confident, and challenged daily. I won’t quit because of that.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In 2014, I was a college gal hungry to make some side cash and tried dipping my toe into creative freelance work. Taking wild creative ideas and bringing them to life was exhilarating – that was when my dream of creating what is now MPact Creative began.
Between 2014 and 2023, I worked a few real jobs –some public sector, some private – a few side projects here and there, lived a lot of life and experienced a lot of change. However, one thing always stayed constant: I loved talking to people and I loved telling stories. In June 2023, I decided I could make this dream a full-fledged reality and I went for it. Within a week, I began to build the MPact Creative team and we had our first clients.
At MPact Creative, we specialize in visual identity for businesses, website creation, graphic design and event planning! We have clients from a variety of industries and are always looking to take on a challenge and learn new things!
When I was searching for my first few jobs, I wanted a workplace that was fun, exhilarating, challenging, a new task each day to keep me on my toes. I wanted somewhere that gave me a supportive team, mentors, and encouraged continual growth. I have aimed to keep all of these in mind when crafting MPact Creative – we have a meaningful mission, collaborative culture, flexibility in schedule, and encourage learning and development.
As I reflect on my journey from that college dream to where I stand today, I am so proud to have a brand dedicated to core values of innovation, collaboration, and tailored solutions. The name “MPact Creative” encapsulates our philosophy –making a meaningful impact through creative ingenuity. Starting a business is anything but easy, but I am so eager to continue to learn, grow and expand.
As a 28-year-old business-owner, one thing I would tell to others who are considering taking the plunge, is that everyone is scared and battles with imposter syndrome. We all have the same terrifying thoughts of failure and of being unqualified – we aren’t imposters, we are just beginners at being business owners. Pick yourself up by the bootstraps, learn how to do it and go offer your talents to the world – and if your path to success isn’t the “traditional way” to get there, that is okay, too! Just get started.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a small-town girl at heart – originally from Pawnee, Oklahoma. Moving to Dallas, Texas was quite the change!
A few must-visit places I love to take guests include a morning walk down Katy Trail, a day of shopping at Bishop Arts District, and either a low-key night at Mikes Gemini Twin for drinks and ‘dawgs or drinks overlooking the skyline at Canopy. Also – pretty hard to beat a night at Louie Louie’s Piano Bar…
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A shoutout for the encouragement to start my business goes to my closest support group: my supportive family, my best friend and boyfriend Luke, and my incredible friend group. A humble shoutout to my clients for the trust they have placed in myself and my team – and for allowing this dream to become a reality. And the most gracious and heartfelt shoutout to my MPact team – you all are the reason I keep going and believe this business will continue to find success. You are who you surround yourself with and each of you make me a better person. One last special shoutout to Audrey McIntyre – for growing alongside of me, pushing this business to greater heights and all of the countless hours of work behind the scenes – I am so grateful for you. Thank you, all!
