We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Matthews and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Morgan, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
1. Critically listening to other music 2. Building genuine and personal relationships with people (and then keeping them).
3. Always finding something to do (even when I felt hopeless)
4.. Understanding the business side of music

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is Morgan Matthews. I’m a Fort Worth, Texas based music producer. I’ve worked on all kinds of songs for different artists including Alicia Keys, Aaron Carter, Miguel, Tory Lanez, 21 Savage, Ashley All Day & Kiiara, Conor Maynard, Anth Melo, Nate Good, Keiynan Lonsdale.
This year 2022, one of the albums I worked on, “ALICIA” was nominated for a Grammy.

My story was probably similar to a lot of other musicians stories. I started with a 4 track cassette recorder in a bedroom and then moved up to a computer and DAW, I would create instrumentals and beats for several years and sell them for whatever price I could and get whatever dollar amount I could. My music began to sound better and I would price it higher whenever I was able to.

I eventually started to be heard on a bigger scale and was able to make songs with signed artists to major record labels.
None of the process was easy but it was always fun every single day.
One major thing I have learned with all of this is that you need to be able to adapt and change.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
