We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Ashley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Morgan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I grew up loving listening to country radio! When I was in elementary and middle school, I had a karaoke machine and my friends and I would put on concerts for my parents. I even wrote songs about my horses and cows! I was very involved with my 4-H and FFA chapters! I joke now that I basically traded in showing cattle and rodeoing for traveling around to play music! I did my local FFA Talent Show and just sang to background tracks. I sang ‘Famous in a Small Town’ by Miranda Lambert! There were others in the talent show that played the guitar, and that really started a fire in me to learn! I ended up getting guitar lessons from Guitar Center in Katy, Texas and my teacher made me believe that music was a career I could really pursue! I love country music, and I love getting to perform songs that I write and have people relate and sing a long!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been pursuing a career in the music industry for the last 8 years and have always had a day job to support it! I currently work in an accounts payable position at a company called S-Con Services. It’s a challenge to balance all the work it takes to put into my music and working 10 hours a day at the day job, but I’m grateful for all the opportunities my day job has allowed me as I pursue music! Hard work makes the dream work!
I love country music, and I love three chords and the truth. I’m authentically telling my story through my songs, and it’s the best feeling to know when someone can relate to it! Music is healing, and I can only hope to do that with my music!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in College Station, home of Texas A&M! If I were showing someone around College Station, we would have to get Tijuana fries at The Dixie Chicken and take a walk through Bottle Cap Alley! My favorite bar on Northgate is The Backyard! They have cornhole, washers and my favorite late night taco truck, the Beef and Reef!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents deserve the biggest shoutout! They have been so supportive of me in my music career and continue to be a large part in the Morgan Ashley team!
