We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Barsh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monique, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I truly believe acting and being a creative was a gift from God that I was born with. Having the freedom to escape from everyday life and create is so magical to me

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My favorite scripture sets me apart and that is Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you in your mothers womb I knew you and I set you apart, I call you a prophet to the nations;

This year I’ve been reflecting on my journey with acting and going back to “the why” it’s important to understand your purpose. That’s exciting to me knowing just like Beyoncé and Angela Bassett were inspirations for me growing up, I am a representation for black women that anything is POSSIBLE!

Challenges I’ve learned that there will be adversity, test and tribulations but that’s where beauty and birthing of dreams come from!

I want the world to know that I am love and light!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’re definitely going to Velvet Taco it’s my absolute favorite! A nice lounge I love a night out with music, good vibes and did I mention food lol we are going to eat lol then of course Church on Sunday!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate this shoutout to my firm foundation and that’s Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior! I am nothing without him! My mother, Cathy Ball, my sister, Tunyia Wade and my best friend Chris Thompson!

And I can’t forget my loves!!! That’s a community of family & friends who are my biggest supporters, inspirations and motivation!
