We had the good fortune of connecting with Monet Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monet, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Balance is vital. Balance to me, is the key to being sane. If i’m on my phone too much in one day, not focusing on God, my businesses, school, or family I feel horrible and drained. Overtime i’ve learned that i’m not missing anything online. It’s not important to keep up with everything & everyone 24/7, although it can be addicting, i’ve cut back. I’ve began spending time on what truly matters. Everyday is its own & balance isn’t always easy, but it is necessary for your future, your success & your sanity. So put your phone down & get to work!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I am a full-time employee & a part-time student, all while running two, potentially 3 (more to come) businesses. Life gets challenging, not going to lie, which brings us back to balance. I’ve learned patience. Nothing worth having is going to come overnight. Keep working & perfecting your craft. I put 110% into my work & know it will all be worth it in the end.

 

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m vegan, so we would definitely be hitting up itsovegan in Grand Prairie! #blackowned I love going new places, we would definitely explore some museums, learn new things & of course have a spa day! What’s a girls trip without a spa day, food, and a good drink

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a great support system, they know who they are! Support really goes along way for me. It’s not easy starting something new, so on days when i’m feeling discouraged I know they have my back. I have the most supportive boyfriend and honestly don’t think I would’ve started all of this without his support & daily motivation. He inspired me even more & challenged me to get out of my head and bring my dreams to life. He also has he’s own Mobile Car Detailing business, so anyone in the DFW area check him out on facebook & instagram @ luckys.detailing. I also want to shoutout my big sister, Modern Day Hippie Hands, @dishascymone ladies & men go get your hair done! You’ll be seeing more of her soon!
