Meet Missjay Bennett | Band Manager/vocalist/musician/singer/producer/songwriter/

We had the good fortune of connecting with Missjay Bennett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi MissJay, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued an artistic career because it was very well known to me. Both of my parents had musical backgrounds. It was almost Second Nature for me to be able to sing and play several instruments. Music has been passed down generations in my family.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I hear a lot from people that I have a different sound so I would have to say that my sound separates me from everyone else as well as my level of energy. I absolutely love performing life so I have to make everyone. I’m performing to love it with me. It’s a bit of a breaking ice tactic. I have, but it just helps the creativity flow. I am most excited about how far I’ve come. Looking back when I first started performing. I was a beginner and now I have the experience on how to control a crowd and carry the show all while creating a memorable experience. One of the challenges that I had that was major actually was the fact that I wasn’t from Dallas and nobody knew who I was. Meaning, I did a lot of free karaoke singing just so that my name could be known. I paid a lot of entrance fees and competition fees just to go into somewhere to be heard so I lost a lot of money, but I would rather like to
Consider it an investment. I have learned to never give up and two speak what I seek until I see what I said. Manifestation is key..

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I would definitely take her to some of the live music venues that I know of. Deep Elum, Sandaga. Arlington Highlands for a great meal and pleasant company.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well, I definitely would like to shout out Jarrod Williams analogy known as The Sunday takeout! Most definitely one of the most supportive people that I know, I would like to shout out different artist in Texas not just Dallas. Drea Randall, Miriam Echo, and Roxy Lynn. These ladies have put me on platforms with them to help further and establish myself, and I’m extremely grateful and indebted to them for doing so. Being that I am not originally from Dallas, that means a lot. I am now booked all over Dallas as well as being booked of state weekly.
