We had the good fortune of connecting with Miouxnie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miouxnie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Freedom. Growing up as a preacher’s daughter, life was church. Life was prayer. Life was making sure you pleased God and made right decisions.
I didn’t have a lot of friends and I stayed to myself. My mother told me “An idle mind is the devil’s workshop” so I probably stopped saying I was bored at 7 lol. I didn’t want the devil playing with my mind. That was scary.
Since my mom was a stay-at-home mom until I was 13. I watched her write books, , make art, decorate, write music, sing, dance, etc. I wanted to be just like her.
Being creative is absolutely amazing. The freedom to become and express is empowering and it’s something no one can take from you.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is feeling that the Universe really is my canvas. I believe everything I create has an energy that you can feel and in some cases can heal.

I’m where I am because I’ve persevered and I’ve turned all of the my experiences into creativity that can enhance lives.

Nothing that’s worth having is ever really easy. I can seem easier for some, but there is a relentless dedication and perseverance and sacrifice that no one sees.

I’ve learned to just go, stop overthinking. Nothing is amazing the first time. Do things and learn as you grow. Also, do not compromise who you are. Be yourself and abide by your values. As time goes on, be willing to grow but never compromise who you are.

I want my work to be timeless and impact future generations. While I’m here, I want to know that I’ve helped someone. I want to be known as someone who provokes purpose and stimulates senses.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly I’m not sure about an itinerary, but have some spots I’d love to take my bestie whenever she comes. I love water and one of my favorite places is the Fort Worth Water Garden. It’s even more relaxing going at night when it’s quiet and water can capture your soul while you watch and listen.
Soirée Coffee Bar is a definite must. Their coffee is so good and I’m particular about my coffee. With live music and a wonderful atmosphere, we can visit every day. I’m actually a homebody and I realize I need to get out more.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom is phenomenal! Til this day she doesn’t realize how much she’s influenced who I’ve become. She feels like I should be a “preacher”,(of course) but what I’ve seen from this woman who raised 4 kids, never cursed, never drank or smoke, was never abusive and who only wanted to see her children LOVE each other, I can only respect and honor her.
I’ve never met anyone who loves God as much as she does and I would never question that. Even with everything she’s gone through. She stands for truth and could care less what people think about her relationship with God.
