We had the good fortune of connecting with MinhTality and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi MinhTality, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always to be an entertainer. Throughout my life, I’ve tried various types of creative outlets such as rapping, modeling, dancing, videography, photography, etc. I would try one, do it for a couple of months or years, then move on to the next creative hobby, Throughout the years and multiple trials of everything, the only one that really stuck with me was rapping. I’ve been a heavy music consumer my whole life, but the genre that I enjoy the most is rap, so it only felt right to have my own artistic input on it. Making music helps me express things that I would not be able to say or do in real life, and I want to share it with everyone whether they like it or not!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from these other rappers and artists is that I’m an entertainer. A lot of artists that I’ve met make really dope music, but sometimes, that isn’t enough to captivate people, in my opinion. It’s all about branding and engaging your audience. It’s all about the energy that you output, and my energy is unmatched. When I step in the room, I’m guaranteed to shift the crowd and draw the attention towards me. That’s what makes me stand out. I’m literally the craziest Asian rapper that you’ve ever seen in your life.
Was it easy? I’ve yet to hear anyone say that their journey was easy. As a matter of fact, the entertainment industry is probably the hardest to be extremely successful at so most people quit within a couple of years. But me? Nah I’m different. Out of everyone that started making music around the same time as me, I’m one of the only ones that hasn’t quit, and I’m going strong still. Probably stronger than I ever have, and it’s because I really love the game. I realize that I may never be a big superstar, but at least, I can still make dope music that will last forever.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would say they’ve definitely gotta see me perform because let’s be real here, who else really puts on a show like me?? Also, they’re probably in the city to see me, so they’re gonna see me. To eat, I’d probably say go to Legacy West area, and to drink, I’d say anywhere because we bringing bottles everywhere we go.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wanna give a shoutout to all of my friends, family, and girlfriend for always supporting me, listening to my music, watching my videos, sharing my content, and buying tickets to my shows. It means everything having a good support system that encourages you to keep creating art, whether they may actually like it or not.
