We had the good fortune of connecting with Millie Leuangthongxay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Millie, what are you inspired by?
What am I inspired by? LIFE! Growing up, it was frequently damage after damage from losing my dad to my immigrant mom being a widow, trying to take care of two kids on SS benefits, food stamps and a $8/hour job. There was a lot I didnt know about life that I had to learn on my own. Some days, I learned it spot on and then there were things that took 10 years or so to learn. Becoming a digital content creator and a social media DJ, I wanted to connect with people through music and turn it into a table talk. This became a good way for people to speak up without having to be seen or identified. I wanted to allow people to see that, it’s OK to be here, it is OK to share your story too.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started in digital design back in the 90s, as I learned more about the art, I loved being able to pour my mind into it. It started off with taking selfies and putting those clouds in the background LOL but then it grew as I learned creating a brand; not just for myself but for the projects I worked for. It grew onto me as I learned to help create an image for businesses and entrepreneur. In some sense, I was not just helping them create an image but also boosting their desire to do well and get out there. It was challenging in the sense that I could not always come up with the design that the business wanted. Constantly having to go back and make changes so frequently. Then there were times I’d have creators block and did not know what I could offer these businesses. What kept me going was their trust in me. Trusting me with the process, the timing and creativity kept me yearning to do well for them. The one thing I do want people to know is that I’m here for you and not myself, it is not about self seeking, I am here for you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely want to start the morning off with Company Cafe off Greenville Ave, really great gluten free restaurant with unique flavor and just a nice casual scene. After breakfast, would love to take a brief drive to Klyde Warren park. We all need some vitamin D! It is a great place to just people watch, grab some food from food truck and just lounge on the grass. Then I’d like to swing by Carrollton, there is korean town full of stores and restaurants. I’d like to stop by 85 Bakery for some egg tarts and other pastries. Walk a few doors down to 7Leaves for some Green Thai Tea. Is it lunch time? Definitely would love to swing by Kura which is a sushi restaurant with the revolving belt and a robot that brings your drink!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God! I am a Christian and I put my faith and love with Him always. Then there is my mom, she passed away in 2016 but she was my greatest motivation to do right, to do good. I walk a path in a way that would make her proud. My daughter who is everything to me in this present life-keeps me grounded and I model myself to make her proud as well as to hope that she grows in a similar path.
