We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Wojo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally from a small town called South Hadley in Western Massachusetts. Growing up I’d say I was pretty oblivious of the things going on around me since I was very family oriented. Then one day my parents divorced and that changed everything for me. Living primarily with my mother she never really seemed to mind what I was doing or where I was going at the time, so I started hanging out with the more delinquent ones in my town, getting into trouble and other things. Eventually after graduating high school I went to college and it got even worse I was doing drugs and getting into more trouble involving the police. My mother and younger brother left Massachusetts after I graduated and I began to live with my father. One day I overdosed in the middle of campus in college and after that I decided to leave and go to Texas myself. That’s how I made my way to Fort Worth.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So when I started off learning how to tattoo it all began from being an apprentice. I studied under an already established Tattooer at a shop. His name is Jack “Daddy Jack” Terrell I studied under him for 2 years. I wasn’t allowed to take walk in clients during that time and had to venture out on my own to handout flyers for myself and business cards to get people interested in what I was doing. It was a very rough time consuming process. It didn’t yield much results but it didn’t stop me. After those two years we parted ways under unfortunate circumstances and I went to the shop I’m currently at in Fort Worth Stockyards. I continued doing my own personal promotions and was going to the bars out there and even to the Strip club down the ways to get more interest from others. Eventually I was getting more and more people in my chair and from there things got to where they are now.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a very difficult lol it’s would just depend on the mode of things. Cause there is so much out here in the DFW that it’s hard to do everything. But if I had to make a list of places I’d probably would want someone ti checkout I’d say…. 1. Any Steakhouse/BBQ restaurant in the stockyards
2. Checkout the clubs and bars down on West 7th in Fort Worth
3. The assassin spot of JFK in Dallas
4. My tattoo shop and get a tattoo done by myself or anyone of my talented coworkers

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Id have to give recognition to my boss/friend Frank Flores the owner of Cowtown Tattoo Lounge. We first met when he bought the tattoo shop from the previous owner and saw me at my lowest point in my life. I was going through a divorce and started back on drugs after many years. He saw how bad I was hooked on them and he never gave up on me. He sought out to change my ways and help me turn my life around. He got me to save money get myself a car, get my own place and have a better relationship with my kid. I truly owe him so much and wish nothing but the best for him.
