We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, how do you think about risk?
I was raised by a single mom that struggled to put food on the table down in south Florida. I always wondered how my friends were able to afford new cars and giant houses. I read several books and educated myself, and that taught me you must take risks in order to be successful. You must step outside of your comfort zone. After joining the military, it taught me I must go after my goals in life and to maintain a high level of determination and perseverance. Since then, I’ve always taken bigger risks than my peers. I educate myself on any particular subject or investment vehicle and I learn from those who have done it before me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own Blue Mint Thai and Asian Cuisine in Mansfield, Texas. It was voted the number 1 Asian food restaurant in Arlington, Mansfield and Grand Prairie in 2022 (and several other times in prior years). The family I bought it from had been running it for 14 years and they were looking to sell it and partially retire. I was not looking to buy a restaurant, I was looking to buy an apartment building. I worked with the family’s daughter and she connected us. We agreed on price and terms and I took over on 1/1/2023. The family’s authentic Thai and Asian food is AMAZING. I just came in and did a full renovation including TVs, music, beer, wine and seltzers, a new website, hired a marketing company and added delivery. I am able to accomplish what I have from educating myself and having a success mindset. Most famous mentors I follow have the same mindset. They decide on a path, educate themselves, TAKE ACTION, and learn as they go. Successful people understand FAILURE IS A PART OF THE PROCESS. I have 5 houses and a condo in Orlando. I have written two books. I teach others about financial education. I do all of this to show other poor people and blue-collar workers that ANYTHING is possible with the right mindset and determination. My passion is teaching others how to have the right mindset and how to take risks in order to be financially independent. Money isn’t everything, but having money to live the life you want and not being stressed about it gives us peace of mind.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I enjoy going to sporting events or concerts. I love hitting up a Cowboys, Mavs or Rangers game. I also go to Clearfork often to play Bocce Ball at Pinstripes. We also often go to West 7th Street, Sundance Square and around downtown Fort Worth. The Deep Ellum area is also fun to bar hop at.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
No one can find success without the assistance of others. I found that it was hard to discuss my success and my vision with others who don’t share an entrepreneurial spirit. Most of my education comes from reading books and listening to podcasts. A few books that have changed the path of my life are Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, and The One Thing by Gary Keller. I have also listened to 100’s of hours of podcasts by BiggerPockets about real estate investing, mindset and business. I also have some close police friends that have had some side hustles and became entrepreneurs that have been very supportive. Of course, my family has allowed me to follow my vision to find the goals I have set for myself. Also, the family I partnered with when acquiring Blue Mint Thai and Asian Cuisine is phenomenal. I provide them with the support they need and they handle the day to day operations so I can stay at my full time Detective position.
