We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Jimenez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly at first everything I’m doing now was just a dream of mine so when I started I didn’t think too deep into it I just felt like a little girl playing dress up.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well what I do right now is a bunch of weddings but I hope one day to be able to do Quinceñera’s and just any event that requires doing a bold eyeshadow look. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come at a young age as well as the little experience I have with actually receiving clients, I started receiving clients almost a year ago, I officially started on January 2023, if I’ve come this far at this age I’m excited for what’s to come when I grow older and get more experience. I am here today because I got hired by 2girls1brush, they were the start of my journey, personally getting hired was easy for me because I felt confident with what I could do, but once I finally started getting hired to assist at wedding I quickly realized how it was much more than just showing up and throwing makeup and curls on people. I learned about techniques, communication, prices, advertising, it was just so much that I just didn’t ever really thought about. Practice, and paying attention have been my best friends with these challenges, I haven’t mastered everything but I just know if I keep doing what I’m doing I’ll eventually be a successful mua. My parents always say this phrase to me “todo a si tiempo” it means everything in it’s time, i quickly learned that if i try to rush everything it’s just not going to come out my way, learning that being a professional mua doesn’t just happen in a week, it takes time, experience and knowledge. Another lesson that I’ve learned is that if you don’t get out of you comfort zone, you won’t go anywhere in life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I’m being the area I live in isn’t the funnest but for someone new to the area I’d definitely take them to stockyards, the vibe is amazing sometime all you need is to just get dressed look pretty and go somewhere you can take amazing pictures at and stockyards is the place to do that, as well as downtown, love the water gardens and Sundance square. Sundance square is so pretty at night. Now I love dancing so for a good ol time I’d definitely go to fort worth 2001.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well obviously I want to give a shoutout to the 2girls1brush, Tess and Amber have been a huge impact in my MUA journey, I’ve learned SOOO much from them, not only that but because of them, I wouldn’t call it a business yet but this little makeup thing I got going on has grown because of them, they’ve given me so many opportunities to grow and learn and just better myself. But this shoutout I dedicate it to my mom and dad. My mom because she’s the one who pushed me to take that first step and my dad because he’s the one who bought everything to start my first makeup kit. I can’t thank them enough they deserve the world and I hope to be able to give them the world in return one day.
