We had the good fortune of connecting with Meredith League and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meredith, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My goal in starting The Tanning League mobile spray tanning is convenience and customer service. As women, we are balancing more than ever. We have careers to pursue, families to take care of, businesses to grow and households to manage. Last on the list is often ourselves. My hope is to provide a 15 minute window of time during a crazy day to help women feel pampered and taken care of. It’s a quick little pick me up to help you feel beautiful in your own skin and to take on the rest the rest of your week with a little extra confidence!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Before starting venturing into the wild world of spray tanning, I spent 12 years as a professional ballroom dance teacher. I got to teach adults from all walks of life and really enjoyed getting to know and learn from every one of them. My favorite part of my job though, was helping my students grow in confidence. Dancing in public is a fear that is right up there with public speaking for many people. Getting to help people discover a confidence they didn’t know they were capable of was an incredibly edifying experience. I have always wanted to play a role in helping others feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful in their own skin. Now, I get to do that through spray tanning.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Growing up in Iowa, I was the eccentric little 5 year old who wore white cowgirl boots with a sparkly silver star obsessively with every outfit. Moving to Texas was a full circle and I love getting to show off this awesome area. Here are some of my favorite things to do with visitors. Taco and Margarita Tour – Velvet Taco, Torchy’s, R Taco, and Cartel Taco Bar
Visit the Stockyards and watch the rodeo
Have a night out at Cowboys Red River for a two step lesson and night of dancing
Take a quick day trip to Turner Falls (this is mostly an excuse to stop at Buc-ee’s!)
Catch an improve comedy show at Four Day Weekend
Spend an afternoon wine tasting and shopping in downtown Grapevine (I especially love the almond wine at Messina Hot Winery!)
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I was preparing for my wedding, Sue, owner of Ava’s Bridal, made me feel so so very special. She really made me feel like a million bucks and the took time to care for every aspect of my wedding dress experience. Her genuine care for every bride is truly one of a kind. I hope to leave all of my Tanning League Ladies feeling special and valued after every tanning session.
